We love Minamoto treats. Always delicious.
Always a pleasure to go in and select some delicious treats to gift or nibble on while shopping.
It is a well known desert store in Japan for years. I was so excited to visit there to purchase a quality and fresh-made desert items (sakura-mochi). Unfortunately, most items I were interested in were out of stock:(, and chestnut mochi I purchased was frozen !! I simply misunderstood that their desert items are freshly made in the location. The taste and quality (mochi and tiny Baumkuchen) is still good, but it was not a special desert for me since it was frozen foods flying in from Japan. People can buy mochi at a nearby Japanese supermarket in a similar quality or I can make it at home instead.
We were there yesterday, noticed the store, mind you the sign said (5) minimum capacity in the store. I was with my hubby and son. As far as I know (it’s a small store) I see there was only one customer and one staff (a guy). There was no one in the front of the store managing the flow. I started to walk in well not even half of my other foot was in the door when we were greeted abruptly by the guy (waving his hand before me) saying “no! You can’t come in! You must stay behind the line!” My group was taken a back cause he could’ve said it politely? I lost interest and walked away.. he lost a sale cause I was going to buy some mochi but with that customer service forget it! Thumbs down ??
What a delight, the store itself and the Japanese sweets. This time I tried mochi-cake with chestnut! Ah - perfection, with my favorite tea.
On point Japanese desserts. Can be a nice present.
Super expensive Japanese sweet store. Most of the mochi' s were around $4. However, there were few sweets for which they charged more than $25 per piece. I loved the sakura mochi in salted cherry leaf.
Nice Japanese store with traditional look and ambiance. Nice selection of special Japanese confectioneries. I come by every once in a while and snap up some mochi.
If you've never heard of K. Minamoto, it's basically authentic and expensive Japanese sweets. Mochi, Baumküchen (which is German, but popular in Japan), Wagashi, etc. are basically imported, so the same style as in Japan. If you're looking for that kind of thing, then you'll find it here
It is a surprise to see the store in the shopping centre which all snacks tasted so good!
