Unique tasting and style of ramen. A good dinner experience coming from Vancouver, BC CanadaThe Dohatsuten Ramen - Tasted alright, not the best I've had compared to Vancouver, BC's ramenThe Tsukemen - Tasted delicious and we enjoyed the yuzu-soy flavor which was different! The Chicken Karaage - Good tasting hot app, who doesn't like fried chicken as a starter?
Outdoor seating which is nice. Food is tasty and a vegetarian option with vegetable broth is available.
Waited for 10 minutes. The waitress was impolite. It seems that they are understaffed. The service was poor. They just ignored me as a client.
This Ramen spot is pretty good. Hard to find a good ramen spot especially when popular ones are always busy with long lines.
This place is always understaffed, especially on Friday or weekend. We waited for more than 10 minutes to get a table, when there were plenty of empty ones. We waited for another 40 minutes for the food, because the server forgot to send our order to the kitchen. The worst thing is that there is really no urgency, and it seems nobody cares that people are standing around the empty tables to get seated. When service declines, food taste becomes very inconsistent. Ramen broth was too salty and iron bowl was not well done this time . We were very royal customers but we probably will not visit any more.
We ordered Dohatsuten Ramen, Taro Pork Ramen, and Chicken Karaage. The ramen broth is better than expected, but the pork belly and chashu pork are very good; at this price point per bowl, you might be able to find other place with better broth but might be hard to find ramen with so much topping!
Food has really good flavors at decent prices. Though small portions.. However the staff is really inefficient and not treated us with any kindness or smile. Just angry. Long lines, empty tables and waited 1 hour with 50% empty tables. Hate going under 15% tip, this time I felt warranted. Their fried wings was good, however over soaked with sauce that it lost its crunch. What could have been…
Absolutely terrific food with friendly staff. Loved what I ate. Would definitely recommend.
Psst. Don't travel far to come here. It's not that good. I was getting off work like 10 mins away and didn't want to wait in line at Ramen Nagi. Luckily Dohatsuten is open until 8pm. There was a 10 min wait for an indoor table at 7:30pm. If you have tasted good ramen in Japan, the broth here is acceptable, not great. I came here later in day hoping to get the best of the tonkotsu broth, the sediments. Instead, I gotten a watered down version. (The chef might have decided to make the broth last longer for today's meal service.) The meats however, were good. The Dohatsuten ramen $13.75 came with a scoop of sweet minced pork, chashu and braised pork. Those pieces of meat saved this ramen from being mediocre. I'm not sure why they added carrots and cabbage in ramen. It doesn't belong there. My appetizer was calamari $8.75. It included both rings and tentacles. This would have been bad if they didn't include that aioli sauce. The batter was bland. I asked for a lemon wedge but they were out. I was really hoping they served it with some dried green seaweed flakes or even shichimi togarashi (Japanese 7 spice blend) to give it some flavor. Even boring salt and pepper would have sufficed.
Delicious ramen and other japanese food.
