The tables are sticky. Some of them (e.g. the smallest ones outdoors) even have visible globs of goo and grease all around the edges on top where the surface is not smooth due to the laminate edge. Gross. The food is good. Typical of Shanghai cuisine, it is slightly (subtly) sweeter, which is a pro or con depending on your preference. The 炒年糕 (rice cakes) was super greasy. The 夫妻肺片(spicy beef cold app) lacked punch compared to Szechuan places. The 生煎包 (pan fried buns) was decent. There are better Shanghai places in the area code.
Love Chef Zhao’s. My guy always gets the Dong po it’s not my thing but it tastes great. We had green beans and sweet and sour chicken and thick noodles. I was skeptical of “thick noodles” but they were great. We try to get one different thing each time and I’m so glad we tried these. Great comfort food. They’ve been our Christmas Eve take out for the last several years and they don’t disappoint.
Earlier today, I stopped by Chef ZHAO Kitchen at 2180 W Bayshore Rd #120 in Palo Alto. I ordered a take out lunch, as I was meeting friends in a park for lunch. Once at the park, I opened my take out plastic bag, it did not contain a fork or any other method to eat my meal. I was disappointed. After our gathering ended about 2 and a half hours later, i returned to Chef Zhao Kitchen with my unopened meal. I told one of the staff what had happened. She instructed me to place the container on a side table. I was expecting an apology for their oversight. I did not get one. Nor an offer for a refund or even an offer to remake my meal. The staff completely dismissed me. I live about 70 mile from this restaurant. I will not ever make plans to return.
The amount of salt in the food was clearly at a ridiculous level. The flavors were there, but salty to a surprising degree, some bites tasted like they were pure salt. There should be more attention to health consequences, not to mention taste. Our first and last time.
We got beef and broccoli, beef chow main and pork potstickers.. it was delicious! My son and I were very impressed. Definitely recommend.
Fried donuts are authentic, but Be careful, they might serve them while extremely hot. The oil splashed onto my nose and got burned, now it left a scar on my nose. SAD STORY. Please serve the fried donut in a proper temperature to customers.
Very good sweet soy milk with Chinese fried donuts, meat veggie rice, and beef stew soup noodles.
All the entrees were delishious. Maybe a bit understaff. Prices for dishes were higher than before covid-19.
Food was edible and the compliments end there. Overpriced for what amounts to stuff you can get in the trader Joe's freezer section. Not reccomended, the pork rib fried lump things were sickeningly sweet and the sauce was so over thickened it could've been mistaken for the mucus inside a smokers lung. Avoid if possible, panda express has better food if I'm being honest and the bar is low enough to be a tripping hazard for Asian food in this area.
We came n for a light dinner, and had won ton soup and steamed pork buns. Both were excellent. Definitely a place to return to.
