Absolutely wonderful experience - we got to enjoy this during GPS Restaurant Week. It was all of our first times and it was the perfect way to enjoy a LOT of the dishes they offer here.Personally, I'm Gluten free and our server did an excellent job of guiding me through the menu. I enjoyed truffle fries' berries and cheese (no bread), the steak au poivre. And for dessert I had the tangerine ice cream with grapefruit slices. ?
Amazing food with a creative flair in flavors! Our server extraordinaire, Jonathan, was very attentive and explained the pairings with the dishes perfectly. Kudos Workshop Kitchen and Bar, you do it right!??
Amazing restaurant! Absolutely loved everything that came out and the archive was fantastic. The steak for two was super tasty and cooked to perfection. I don't quite remember what we had for the appetizers but I do remember them being very tasty and also just well presented as well.Overall highly recommend!
The place to go if you’re looking for something extraordinary. The cocktails are gorgeous and the space is like a modern cathedral where great food is what’s being worshipped! What I loved most is that it didn’t have a pretentious vibe — they still manage to pull off casual somehow. The bathroom feels like France - functional and strangely ordinary. It’s the only part of the whole experience that didn’t match. We loved our server Jeff. He’s got the gift of likability and again — not pretentious.
The decor was interesting and unique, and the service was friendly. However, I was disappointed with the food and drink. The “Good Lion” “original cocktail” was an average old fashioned. The oyster mushrooms tasted mostly like fried batter—could barely taste the mushrooms. My steak was a good medium rare, however the black pepper was overwhelming. Given the food up to that point, I decided not to get desert. Considering the good online reviews, price, and strict reservation requirements, I was hoping for much better.
The Chilled Asparagus English Pea Soup, and the Saffron Risotto were delicious, and the atmosphere was extraordinary.
Amazing. The food was sensational and the interiors were amazing. Wait staff fantastic. Would go back again.
Our party called two weeks in advance and was told for our size (10) we would be subject to private dining designation of family style meals and pre-ordering. As this is not the way we wished to enjoy fine dining we asked for a table of four and six. They sat us at opposite ends of the restaurant- while keeping the exact number of chairs available next to us that would have accommodated our whole group. Service was no better a casual diner and the vegetables were cold and unimaginative. You’re intrigued by the architecture? Go for a drink at the bar and go elsewhere for dining. Your wallet and friends will thank you.
I had made reservations well in advance for Workshop. The meat is innovative and has a lot of farm to table items. The decor is the highlight. Whether your in the courtyard or inside the dining room, the restaurant is stunning.I asked for an appetizer recommendation and I’m glad I did. The server recommended the runner beans which were braised in pork. They were so rich and flavorful. So simple, yet so well done. For my entree I had the pork chop. It was perfectly cooked and came with bacon marmalade.Dessert is a must! I opted for the lemon meringue cake which came with a beet and hibiscus sauce. My only complaint about the dessert was the cake was falling over, they were light on the sauce, and a quenelle of ice cream or sorbet would have provided a well rounded pairing to the cake.I had cocktails throughout my dinner. The cocktails matched the food. Innovative, clever, and well made.
I wish we had actually gotten to eat here. We had a reservation for 9pm, driving over from San Diego airport. We had a couple of glitches - out of our control - that made us arrive late. I called to tell them we'd be late, had to leave a message, and as we were racing over there, got a call saying they don't seat anyone after 9, so our reservation was cancelled. Nowhere in any of their many texts confirming our reservation or on their website does it say they don't seat after 9pm. Just says "call if you're going to be late". If we had known this policy we would have gone right to the restaurant instead of checking into our hotel.
