Great staff and service. Love El Mirasol
We had dinner on the patio with friends one evening. The ambiance was ok, but not great. The service and food were also fairly good, but there are better Mexican restaurants in Palm Springs.Prices were reasonable. We will probably return here to try it again, because they have a good vegetarian menu and it is very close to where we live.
Great food service and drinks!!
I normally love porky, lardy refried beans which are the benchmark for how much I like a Mexican restaurant. However, El Mirasol is nothing to write home about when it comes to their rice and beans EXcEPT for their fresh tortillas, fried tortilla chips and the proteins. My shrimp was flavorful and adequately spicy (I should’ve asked for a little crema). I tasted my friend’s carnitas—now that was worth writing home about. Tender, beautifully browned, porky pork which I would’ve loved to have loaded into a fresh tortilla along with a squeeze of lime and onion and cilantro and tiny pours of Cholula like you would be served from a good taco truck. I’d come back just to do that.
Restaurant was busy but we were able to get a table quickly. We shared an entrée as the portions are big. The girlfriend had a boozy margarita that was tasty. Very good meal! The beef was tastier than the chicken. Thanks!
Great place good food good service
Okay, if you get anything here, the Mini Chorizo Tacos are an absolute killer with the homemade everything - the crisp of the shell and the savory chorizo made my day. My friend had the Shrimp in Pipián, and loved it. Another friend was impressed with the Chicken Flauta. But, my wife had the Shimp Enchiladas, with chewy eraser-textured shrimp pieces, and both the refried beans and rice were practically tasteless (and we haven’t had COVID, thanks).
Very bland, uninspired traditional Mexican food. Salsas were not flavorful. Refried beans and rice were boring. Not vegetarian-friendly: rice is made with chicken broth, and they'll put meat on everything if you aren't careful. Bad choice to eat here.
Unfortunately, we couldn't get seated on the lively patio at 5:45pm as it was full, so we were seated inside where there were several families with kids. A couple who were seated after us nearby and didn't remove their Covid masks got up and left before they ordered, likely due to the kids and close proximity of the tables. My restaurant pet peeve happened when they asked us IMMEDIATELY while taking our seats what we would like to drink. Um, we don't know, we haven't had a chance to look at the menu yet... We were given chips and very very mild salsa. The food itself was the blandest Mexican food I've ever had. The house margarita was fine. I felt the service was a bit too swift and felt kind of 'diner-style' level. We were probably served by 4 different people, so we there was no rapport with one person and they all seemed rushed off their feet. The restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel, which was a bonus. If in Palm Springs again, I wouldn't rush back. Despite my thoughts, the place seemed very popular and we were asked if we had a reservation. I would recommend you make one, especially if you want to sit on the patio. We recently stopped here for an early dinner. There was a wait for outdoor sitting, we opted for inside. Very pleasant and quick service. The food turned out to be exceptional. My Carnitas were tender like "mother's pot roast". Great flavor. My companions had the Shrimp With Tomatillo and Shrimp Picado. Both were great. Will definitely be back soon.
