Hungry? In a hurry? This is a great spot early on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Stopped here for a quick bite on our way to play golf. As you would expect, the food is made to order and it comes out fast and hot. Eggs were prepared as requested - a plus. The hard-working staff is friendly and efficient. It looked like they were preparing for a crowd. Likely, there will be a wait later in the morning. Worth it if you like “a blast from the past” experience.
I have been a huge fan of Keedy's since the early nineties. I am Ssssoooo happy they made it through the pandemic. I got to visit last week for the first time in several years.Superb food, Americana setting and memorabilia, with the best shakes and malts still served in those old-school stainless steel containers. Love Love!!
Very disappointed in the food. The reviews seemed really solid and while I know taste is subjective, there are some things that just shouldn’t be messed up. One of these things is egg salad. I ordered egg salad scoop and ended up with a salad for $15. The tomatoes were not ripened and the ice berg lettuce was overkill. The egg salad had zero flavor. I was searching for celery, salt and pepper but it tasted like they put sweet pickle in it with the occasional bit of celery. I couldn’t put enough salt and pepper on it to be able to eat it and wished I hadn’t because I’ve been having stomach cramps all day. My friend had chicken salad on rye toast and it was pretty tasteless as well. The tap water is unfiltered and tasted really bad too and they don’t sell bottled water.
This place brings back many memories of the 50’s and 60’s. The food and service are wonderful. All of the staff are pleasant and work hard. Love sitting at the counter.
Great breakfast diner food! I would have never found this place as a tourist but the local recommendation was fantastic and we really enjoyed everything ordered. Great service too which added to the experience.
Great service! We came for the pancakes and were not disappointed! They are fluffy but thin! I got the short stack with crispy bacon.
Arrived with an appetite and soon after discovered when walking through the door that the staff has little time to seat you personally, however that is not a negative in the slightest, your not left standing in a crowded waiting area meant for 8, currently holding a corral of 12 people, you soon understand that the next available spot you see is yours for the taking, as you sit everything within your eyes reach from the coffee maker to the bar bench and countertop is purpose built, no frills, excessive decorations, or overly enthusiastic waiters or waitresses, that's not to say they aren't pleasant and easy going, there's an atmosphere of heritage as portrayed by the diners history on it's much informative "throughout the years" wall displaying the many people who walked through this eatery's doors, celebrities, football coaches, families, and ordinary people such as yourself that is reading this right now, you look around and you don't see a diner that falls into the age old marketing trick nowadays which is making the place look "retro" or "old fashioned" you take a close look around and you realize it hasn't changed much from what seems like decades ago, it looks really retro because it is, giving a whole new meaning to " if it ain't broke don't fix it" the food is nothing to write home about, (but) it doesn't have to be, the eggs are just eggs not great not Terrible, the thick cut ham is just that, ham that's cut thick, the coffee will taste black if you have it black and creamy if you take it with cream, nothing about this place screams exuberance or in style, it's not a place you seek out for "the gram" this place is simply a by the books, well oiled machine that happens to serve food, you order quick and before you know it your foods out before you can stretch your legs and pop your joints, it's unremarkable like a diamond in the rough, it stands the test of time and that's saying something nowadays. I usually come here when I want to be alone in thought or collect my thoughts from the previous day, just accompanied by some eggs ham and coffee is all. Some of the most special people places or things are unremarkable, you could drive by it dozens of times a week and not know it existed, I know I did, by it's very nature of being unremarkable you can be glad that your among a group who actually has had the pleasure to sit down in one of it's chairs.
Great local joint for quick, good food and amazing service. We sat outside and heating lamps were a nice plus for a chilly morning. Not too impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant. The seat was dirty and the menu was filthy. Surprised that restaurant is still offering menus/salt& pepper shakers in the midst of a pandemic.
Keedys has been my number #1 recommended spot for the past 10 years. But in my recent experience, it was not so. The staff is great, kitchen is great, service overall is wonderful. But the one thing that is forcing me to give a 1 star review is the food. Never in my experience here have I been served an overpriced omelet that was topped with KRAFT cheese. I understand the pandemic has caused inflation to soar through the roof, but I never thought an omelet that consists of 2 eggs, 1 piece of bacon, 1/4 cup of veggies, 1/4 of an avocado, and I slice of KRAFT cheese, would cost $15.50. I could probably buy enough of those supplies to make 10 omelets for that price. Not to include the sodas are almost $4. The prices here are absolutely ridiculous. And I feel that the owner is taking FULL ADVANTAGE of the pandemic in order to gouge the prices.
Great breakfast, fast service, absolutely delicious pancakes, fantastic atmosphere with classic retro diner decor. Will definitely come back!
