MeGusta Mexican Food Specialties. Gourmet Tamales at farmers market nearby. . . MeGusta is all over Los Angeles county and . to name a few East LA, DTLA, West LA, Beverly Hills, Long Beach. Garden Grove, Glendale Farmers Markets, etc,etc.,.... I go to Eagle Rock on Fridays & Atwater on Sunday’s for my weekly dose of Tamales. . It’s a plus to know that they don’t use Lard & No MSG. Lard is one of the basic ingredients of Tamales. (Definition - Lard: fat from pig. :). . I’ve been enjoying these tamales for as long I remember. A span of 20 years more or less. Moist as I wanted my corn masa is, not too fine like Salvadorian but not too coarse & dry just perfect to chew, just enough fiver to replace my dose of Psyllium Husk.. They have so many flavors to chose from, Chile cheese, corn, chicken, beef, pork, etc.,etc.,... They have green/mild & red sauce/hot... green being my favorite, I’ve seen the long meticulous preparation of this sauce made of tomatillo and it’s no fun, patience being the main virtue. A can of soda complements the experience. . Some Farmer’s market provide tables & chairs but who cares about the convenience when you enjoy the food. Many times it helps make the experience more challenging, unusual & interesting. We would sit on the pavement, gutters, or standing up enjoying this dish, it doesn’t matter just as long as my tongue is happy. . . Today:December 16, I called them up from a concerned loyal customer of 20 years. . A threat I should say, that if they don’t put more Chile on their fillings that I will stop eating their Tamales. . Less masa more filling. . Let’s see what happens! :) :)

I lucked out when I found this place. I ordered a pork tamale with red sauce, and it was incredible! The masa was light and fluffy—the perfect consistency—and the pork filling was delicious, tender, with just the right amount of spicy. One tamale was big—enough for lunch—and it cost about $2.50. There isn’t much seating, so I took a warm one to go. You can also order tamales to take home and steam. I hear the chili-cheese ones are fantastic, so I’m going back for one of those. I may have to take some home for later. Yum!
