Went for there onion rings. They used to be made with panko n we're the bomb. Paid 20 for 3 orders. None of us finished them. Tasted like jack in the box.There bq in the past was great. Just went for rings today that's how great they used to be. So sad.
Not impressed. wish it was as good as the reviews made it seem. portions were small, a little expensive, my boyfriend and i got the tri-tip and it seemed more like roast beef that had been microwaved and it was extremely chewy. my boyfriend couldnt even eat his. however the baked beans and chili beans were decent tasting and the amount of choices u get to choose from for the sides was nice. the customer service we received was just alright, we sadly wont be back here to eat n we wouldnt recommend this bbq joint either
My go to place when it comes to home style BBQ. The catering meals are generous and feed more than they say. This is the spot! Ribs are fireand also the Mac and cheese. Highly recommended.
I visited CJ's after not visiting for years (I don't live in the area). I was very happy to see they were still in business and survived the pandemic. It was every bit as delicious as I remember. They make a mean tri-tip sandwich. Incredibly friendly service. They previously had indoor seating (5+ years ago) but they have expanded their kitchen area and there is outdoor seating only. This is actually more enjoyable due to the beautiful weather and proximity to the local airport (if you're into watching planes). Will continue to recommend to anyone!
Never eaten here before but took 2 of my coworkers here for lunch, the lady taking our order was awesome and cracked jokes with us and busted our [email protected]'s. Food is a little pricey but hey everything is right now 3 meals was about 50 bucks and the food was decent. The Mac n cheese looked like a science project little mushy and needed a little bit of spicing up.
First time at CJ BBQ. Lovely environment, clean inside, friendly staff.Rib tips are really good and tender great prices. love the bake beans and the potato salad is the bomb. Definitely will be back soon ??
The smoke flavor was overwhelming. Tri tip sandwich was barely edible. Drowning it in sauce was not a great idea either.
Heard about this place came from Santa Barbara it's a hidden gem in Oxnard food was absolutely amazing. Miss Octavia that helped us was very nice. I think that's her name also chef's cooking in the back were on point they recommended some items for me everything was delicious. Had to drive back to Santa Barbara with the food in the car the smells were almost mesmerizing couldn't wait to get home to eat so we pulled over on Highway One a little past Ventura and had a great meal watching the sunset right up on the beach!!!! True southern flavor!
The tti tip was alrite so was the chicken but the baked potatoe was hard like they microwaved it and the beans and rice wasn't anything to get excited about personally I wouldn't go back just being honest
This is supposed to be a southern bbq place. The red beans and rice was like soup. The rib tips had no flavor. The black eyed peas could use some southern flair. The wings were ok. I will not be returning. The portions of meat was small
