Usually like this place but last night I ordered a burrito with no cheese, got home and found the burrito had cheese. I find it really disturbing when a restaurant cannot get such a simple request correct.Update 7/10/22Prices have gone up and now there is a 4% surcharge added to every purchase. My order yesterday was supposed to include guacamole, it was almost non-existent, but did have a runny, green liquid sauce. Quality is not part of this taco shop.
Tonight was the first time I ever tried this mexican restaurant. At first I felt like I over paid for a burrito and a cucumber water. Nevertheless , hands down! The burrito and water were delicious. Not to mention that the size of the burrito was pretty big for a regular burro. Also, the steak in my burro was tender and the shrimp definitely hit the spot.If you ever come to this please, I recommend you get the SD Burrito. For a first tike I tried this burrito I really enjoyed it. But be mind full of the habanero salsa becuase that just felt like spitting fire. Also, the staff of the restaurant seemed really chill and kind. Definitely a place that I'd comeback to every now and then.
I had the fish burrito and it had little flavor, I love lots of flavor and kick. My older daughter got a bean and rice burrito and loved it and thought it was the best thing she had during our 5 day stay in Oceanside. She kept asking to go back to Valeries. My younger daughter had the enchiladas and thought it was too tomatoey and only could eat a few bites. My older boy got a taco plate and thought they would be similar to street tacos but they were more like Taco bell tacos so he didn't love it. My younger son got nachos and really like them. My husband got a burrito and thought it was pretty good so the conclusion is it completely depends on what you order.
Valeries is conveniently located next to a business park alongside a high school and a middle school. We've been eating and supporting the business for nearly 15 years, when it was originally known as "Robertos". Over the years the business has gone significantly down hill, however, due to its location and proximity we have continued to support them, until recently.Over the years I've been given old food, food with mold (burrito tortilla), and incorrect dishes, all of which can be reasonable and excusable, however recently their practices have turned for the worse. Customer service is horrendous, employees regularly roll their eyes at customers, show attitude and snap, and ignore people to tend to their person cell phones. Any adjustments to an order, including swaps (ex Rice instead of French fries) result in a $00.75-1 surcharge. Portion sizes have decreased, while prices have increased. The food quality have become bland, dry, and overly salty; a massive departure to when they would have fresh homemade tortillas made in house. On a recent visit the menu price online were $1+ off in store, the instore digital menu was off by another $2+, thus they are charging people more than they have on their menu and not providing receipts. When I inquired about the difference in charges the attendant immediately snapped back "if you have problem, call number" pointing at a sign. I called the number to only be told that the company "does not do that" and that her husband would be in touch. A week later, I've yet to hear back from them.Oceanside and San Diego has quality shops are they are plentiful, I have chosen to boycott Valerie's and no longer support a business's that neglect their customers and quality, and openly and blatantly steals from their customers. The business owners should be ashamed, my hope is the Better Business Bureau and credit card companies will address the shady practices.
Smaller portions than the average taco shop. Food not very hot, more like Luke warm. We had two separate orders and asked for 2 bags of carrots (the sign says 1 bag of carrots per order) but was only given 1 bag and told to pay extra if we wanted 2 bags for our 2 orders! They also screwed up our order (chicken taco instead of beef). The location off emerald drive is waaaaay better....Will not be returning to this location ever.
I love Valerie's tacos, but what I really love about it besides the awesome food is Lupe! She's so sweet, accommodating to my vegetarian requests even when she's helping alot of people, she's always been caring. And then there's the food. The vegetarian burrito and enchiladas are amazing. I don't eat meat, but my friends love the carne Asada fries and fish tacos!
This is the second time I ordered carnitas. First the girl who took my order messed up my order. Second, the burrito I ordered was extremely salty I did not eat it. Anyone who wants high blood pressure and kidney failure, this is the place! I am never coming here again.
Excellent taco shop and plenty more. Great value
Awesome service and the food was great!! The chimichanga is huge and delicious. I want to go get another one now.
DO NOT GO HERE !! THE WORST AND SMALLLEST BURRITOS I HAVE EVER SEEN . WHERES THE MEAT???? THIS IS A “CALIFORNIA BURRITO”
