Ordered the ribs with miso soup and a spicy salmon hand roll on the side. I was headed to the movies and had 35 minutes to kill. Good thing I did as it is not very fast. Not horrible slow but if you only have 10 minutes this is not the place to be.Food Quality:Ribs were delicious.Miso soup was bland.Spicy salmon HR was made incorrectly (not spicy) and when they fixed it all they did was squeeze Sriracha on top vs making it correct and mixing it proper. Disappointing.Restaurant was clean enough.
The salmon teriyaki bowl is my go-to. It’s changed a little over the years but the flavor is the same and it’s consistently good. The sushi is good too! The only things I would say are, I wish the salmon filets were like they used to be- thicker. Also the guy at the register wasn’t nice… he really didn’t say a word the entire time so I can’t really describe why he wasn’t nice. Maybe Uninviting or inconvenienced is a better description?
Some of the worst sushi i have ever tasted, not to mention the presentation was terrible, gas station sushi would be more preferable, and the ramen was just as sad, the service was ok, but not amazing or memorable, also pretty sure the fish was not fresh
Small, cozy place. Staff is friendly. Felt like a bit slower. Food was not too bad. I wish fish was more fresher.
The food was good and decent in sizes. The location is right in downtown so it’s another plus.However, I think they overuse those plastics to-go containers! The lady at the register did ask me if it was for dine-in or to-go; the package tray sent to my table was definitely NOT dine-in. Everything, from the tiny wasabi & ginger container to the tempura container and to the hot udon bowl! These containers have tight lids and are designed for to-go; they could have used other one-time-use items like flat trays with no lids/caps.It was a Saturday evening and the place was pretty packed so I understand completely when they couldn’t clean up or dump the full trash can overfilled with those plastics.
Found Japanese/korean getaway(foodwise) in Oceanside, CA.Their food was still good for all not only for korean!I had Udon bcuz it was so cold, today!
I LOVE Umi! This sushi is amazing for it's price! Always fresh and comes to our table quickly. The staff is nice as well. 5 out of 5 for sure!
Both the food and service were amazing !! Had the whole family satisfied :) I look forward to visiting again when I have the chance !
Ordered the Seafood K-Ramen. The bowl was large enough, but there were scraps of vegetables and the noodles had the same consistency and texture of the Maruchan ramen you get from the grocery store for 25 cents. The mussels were ok. Absolute waste of 10.99.
Ordered online, maybe in house service is better. One of my rolls was wrong and they didn’t even include chopsticks with my order. Some of the thinnest avocado/salmon portions I’ve ever seen.
