My favorite Mexican Restaurant and Bakery in the area! Everytime we visited California to visit our adult children, we went daily for breakfast and a few times for dinner. Always wonderful!It's such a nice place to sit, relax and enjoy a delicious meal!The horchata agua fresca is homemade and refreshing!The food is fresh, hot, tasty and authentic homemade Mexican food!The bakery selection is very plentiful! They even made birthday cakes for my Marine's when they were all stationed at Camp Pendleton and the USO used to pick up and deliver, which is how we came to find this wonderful gem!Thank you so much for the hospitality, kindness and wonderful visits! We will miss our visits to California and your restaurant greatly!
The bakery items were stale. The kid plate portions were very small and my burrito had zero flavor; hardly comes close to authentic tasting Mexican food. The staff were very nice but this place is over hyped and over priced. I certainly won’t be back after going out of my way to try this place based on the reviews, such a HUGE disappointment. ?
Some of the best Mexican food that I've ever had. We live in AZ and when we come to Oceanside to visit the in-laws, we always come here for their outstanding Mexican food and buy their wonderful pastries. The staff are great and very friendly.
I have been a customer here since I was a child 40+ years. The original owners (George) and his family ran a prestigious bakery, my family always received fresh pastries, Hot Bread on Sunday mornings, and not to mention the Moist Birthday cakes we would order for our events. Since the new ownership my purchases at the bakery have all been found to be stale and non fresh pastries which we usually don't know until we get home to try the pastries. My recent final visit to this bakery was for my Granddaughters 1st Birthday January 2022, I ordered and paid for 200 cupcakes. Set them up at the party (3) flavors and when guest tried them about (6) persons each one spit them out and said they tasted stale and hard. I was disappointed and immediately contacted the bakery the owner told me I can have a refund but he wanted me to return what was left? I did so even though I had to leave the party. Not sure what he was going to do with them maybe resale. The Bakery since new ownership products have been poor in taste, not fresh, nor are they baked fresh daily. The restauraunt on the other hand continues to provide great tasting, Fresh Food!
Really good menu choices and extremely fresh. Doesn't leave you feeling "stuffed " after eating. Bakery products are great, too.Update: Been here more than several times and their food has always been top notch. I try to get something different each time.Great staff. Other restaurants could learn from SLR Bakery and Restaurant.
Went there for the first time on Sunday February 13th 2022 to meet a bunch of bike riding friends. What a beautiful selection of baked goods and some you'd see in Mexico. We all sat outside and I had the small bowl of Menudo along with nice flour tortillas. It was good. Then I had a nice pineapple small like cupcake which was very good! Excellent service from the young girl who waited on us. Would go again!! Nice place!!
Food is outstanding! Carne asada quesadilla was so good so was the breakfast burrito. The cost was a little on the high side but the food is worth it. Ordered a cup of coffee $3.45 a cup no refills even when we asked that's to much.We will go back just won't have coffee
Absolutely love the huevos rancheros here for breakfast. I almost always get this when we go here. You gotta try it. ?
Delicious. My daughter came for a sprinkle muffin but stayed for the menudo.
We love to take a morning walk through the mission and then stop here for a nice breakfast….and a pastry! They have put in more outdoor seating which is great in this time of social distancing. We’ve always gotten excellent service and the food is good. I love the Spanish omelette. Afterwards their chocolate cookies and pecan rolls are AMAZING. Don’t miss the empanadas de calabaza (pumpkin turnovers) either!
