every single dish i tried was so good i have attained the next level of consciousness. anxiety cured. depression gone. i am at peace with myself, and with the universe. there is only me and this adobo. we are one. we are all. i have tasted infinity. i need nothing more.for real though all hits no misses. i tried a bunch of things not just the adobo and every single one was astounding so so so good
Delicious food! Everything we ordered was very tasty, fresh, and well flavored. Looking forward to going back. The outdoor seating was great too.
We ended up here by chance and boy, we were lucky! Understory has a solid f&b menu with plenty of delicious (and healthy!) options for the meat and veggie eater. We absolutely loved the rice porridge, and the cardamom cocktail was yummy too. Their staff is super sweet and friendly, we'll definitely be back soon!

I’ve been going to Understory at least once a month since it opened in January of 2021 and it has absolutely been one of the few restaurants that’s gotten me through pandemic. The atmosphere is both playful and grounded, and everyone at the restaurant is deeply committed to the restaurant being a part of its community.I love that the menu rotates regularly, especially since it makes it hard to pick a favorite thing! You can’t go wrong with literally any seafood dish on the menu, or any dessert. Also if there are fried oyster mushrooms on the menu with the signature banana ketchup, grab them and thank me later. Each chef has their own unique style but also melds beautifully on collaborative dishes, which is really special.Understory has been and will continue to be a staple for me, without a doubt.
Staff was wonderful and cheery! Had a variety of food options that were all looked delicious. Tried the mushroom tacos and the goat - so good!! Excited to come back!

Delicious food and love that it’s worker-led! They had a new menu today—we tried the pork lumpia, vegan coconut shrimp skewers, brussels sprouts, and vegan desserts. Everything was amazing. I ordered takeout for a group meeting and they accommodated the order quickly within the first few minutes of opening. Great service too-will definitely be back!
Everything we got was so so good! Truly the best beans I’ve had, the chile en nogada was superb, the birria jackfruit tacos were flavored beautifully AND everyone was friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to be back!
