I went to this restaurant on Broadway Oakland and noticed that there is any halal certification on door or in any place inside I ask the employees if they have any prouve that the meat and chicken is halal they said not, but the name of the brand is halal guys seriously is it a joke !!! I feel like a big insult against our Islamic community need clarification from the owner ASAP.
Very unprofessional staff. They close down the place at 10 sometimes at 9 (closing hour listed on google is 1am) while they are still inside. Last time I was there the server told me she is too tired to cook new rice and I should either place an order without rice or “move along”.
I’m from New York and used to love standing in line in the freezing cold on 53rd and 6th avenue because the food was totally worth it. You could get a great portion of delicious food for $6/7 at the time. As for Oakland PA I have to say that though I was quite excited to see a Halal guys opening here….the feel of the food just doesn’t give me the same feeling. I hope I’m time they get the formula right. The portions are underwhelming for the $12 price point.
The pita bread on my sandwich was not cooked all the way through. I ended up eating dough. When I complained with the doughy bread in hand, the manager dismissed me. Later, I began to feel sick.
So I'm not sure if it's just this Halal Guys ot if it's this stores managment but the portion control is a little out if hand, and leave the viewable work space kinda pointless. I've had times where I would ask for more Rice/Vegi or Meat ( never all at once ) to better fill a bowl, or because I actually want more food. I don't mind paying more at all, as long as the additional charge equals the added portion.Otherwise food alone it's like all Halal Guys it's not bad.
The night staff manager needs a promotion she goes above and beyond and is always level headed even when customers are rude to her. Food made to order always hot delicious
This is the nastyest food ive ever eaten. Sorry excuse for gyros. Look at the chicken. Its boiled chicken with 2 pepper flakes. So disgusting.. . To add to the insult, the manager was so rude and unprofessional and she tried to tell me that the chicken was grilled. She insisted that the chicken was grilled to the very last second and told me that she will refund me if she feels like it. Terrible customer service, terrible food.
Gone are the good old days when you could get a small chicken platter around the $11 price mark. Now it seems like every time I walk in, there has been a price hike.I have seen prices increase from $9.99 to $12.99, and now it's $14.60 for a small chicken plate ($15.99 if you go for the spicy chicken – comes to $17+ with taxes). Jalapeños used to be free, which now cost an extra $0.50. The quantities are getting smaller as well. I get we have inflation but these prices seem ridiculous.
Not the best if youre looking for halal. Id stick with the family owned local spots. The food here has never been that fresh and every time Ive ordered delivery it comes a mess.
The food is nicely flavoured but probably better earlier in the day. The rice was hard as was the chicken. The staff were nice and friendly but they also made no effort to clean the tables every single table was dirty except the one 2 person in front of the display. It wasn't busy at all no other diners inside. A bit disappointing
