Tasty, fresh, high quality, well-made food! The Cook and her Farmer delivers yummy dishes. We had the corn salad with ceviche, garnished w taro chips. Also had the chicken liver pate- two to a plate. The liver pates were my favorite, generous with pickled onions to boot. We didn't try the oysters or seafood soup but that also looked amazing. Their wines are natural mostly, a bonus if you like that kind of wine.
I love going to eat on Friday night because alot of restaurants will have seafood special. I was in Oakland and I went to The Cook and her Farmer open space reserved. I got the special for $26, the Fisherman's Stew, which had mussels, clams, shrimp, prawn, squid and fregola sarda in a spicy chili-thyme broth and toasted bread. It was fresh and delicious. It was a huge serving with all the seafood. Definitely got my money's worth and hella enjoyed it.? The Cook and her Farmer off 9th St in Oakland, CA.
Lol first of all I have no idea why none of the reviews say this but it’s not a real restaurant it’s basically a market with a counter there’s some outdoor seating and inside there’s some bench seating but for the prices it doesn’t really make sense since it’s not the real restaurant five you’re probably looking for. I went in on a Wednesday evening and I Asked the guy at the counter which oysters there were and he Mention two different ones. For a place that’s known for their oysters I think it’s kind of ridiculous that they only have two types. I then asked him what the types tasted like and what varieties they were from and where and his response was oh I don’t eat oysters. Again, I feel like if this place is supposed to be known for their oysters the staff would know more… ended up leaving bc the vibe was too weird.
Went here for lunch. Ordered the Harissa chicken and it was really good. Really large portion too. A bit on the pricier side for lunch but worth trying.
Our oysters were cold n delicious, our chicken liver was almost frozen n our toasted bread was like a day old stale bread. Our cashier was rude,he definitely didn't care to take care of us. Horrible experience nothing like Nepenthe
bomb food! was so close to being a 10/10, but the oysters were very salty. overall, the meal was great, overall speedy, and i would absolutely recommend this place to acquaintances!
The food is perfect, delicate where it should be and bold when you want it. Oysters, cheese, amazing bread, pickled cauliflower, just delicious
5 stars is not enough, 10 stars for this place. Pickled veggies are excellent, lentil soup was perfect, shrimp grilled cheese is so crispy and cheesy, harrisa chicken was so tender and tasty, spiced and cooked to perfection!! Bread pudding, oh my gosh, get the bread pudding!!
The oysters here are my granny's and my favorite. They also have amazing mussels and the fries aren't half bad either.
My favorite lunch spot on days I work in the office. Consistently high quality ingredients, house-made, and delicious. Current fave is the market salad *add* fried oysters. Decadent and satisfying!
