My first time trying this place, I got it delivered. I had the szechuan wings, they are so good! They taste like doritos! Very crispy and paired nicely with the sauce. And the pizza is different and very good as well! I tried it with hot honey the second time and Wow? I never knew honey on pizza was so good. I got it delivered twice and the food came very hot. Yes it's expensive.I haven't been in the restaurant yet so I can't tell you about customer service but this place is definitely one of my favorites now. Good pizza, good wings ?
When you get pizza that my wife says she’d come back for, you have a hit. This Detroit-style pizza is delicious. Known for the signature square cut, each piece has 2-sides of crunchy crust, with a combination of toppings and cheese that don’t overwhelm like deep-dish options often do. We ordered the mushroom pie and a salad, which were both incredibly delicious, we can’t wait to come back for more. A little price at $23+ for 4 slices, but you won’t leave hungry.
Pizza is good enough although small and few toppings I expected more for a $23 pizza and the other thing I order where the brucell sprouts and they where burnt and over spiced i don't know with what but it felt like your tongue was soaked in brine every time you tasted them !! Good service but not seats indoors so I guess it's just an average place with goods and worsts !!
This place is take out only Detroit style pizza so it's square with virtually no outside crust but really puffy bottom dough. They have really unique menu selections that you are not allowed to modify but you can always create your own pizza instead. The atmosphere is really cool being surrounded by old Oakland's brick architecture and the closed off streets that encourage night life in the area. This place stays busy so your best bet is to order online and pick up your pie.
It was good but I'm not a big fan of pizza anyway so it's not my cup of tea to eat even thicker than normal pizza which is basically what Detroit-style pizza is. It's square shape does make it easier to hold and I did the Yelp check in to get 10% off a vegan pizza. I ordered the "How Mush-room" and I enjoyed it. The cheese was oddly sticky (not gooey) when I bit into it and much of it got stuck to my front teeth but other than that, no complaints. The service was quick and there were plenty of outside seating. If I go out for pizza again, I wouldn't mind going here again.
Generally I enjoyed my experience and the pizza was pretty tasty, but I wouldn’t say this was the most amazing pizza ever. I give three stars and not five because I had poor customer service and I think the food is super overpriced. Considering the service, when I came in the person operating the cash register was super scattered. When I tried to pay she couldn’t figure out how to work the apply pay system. She then told me to hold on and walked away for like 25 mins. I stood there just waiting while the workers continued to go on and no one acknowledged my presence. Then then manger or owner finally came over to ask me what I was waiting on and then checked me out without apologizing for the inconvenience. Next considering the price I paid 27$ for a personal sized pizza and a drink, which I found to be extremely over priced. It seems that they are relying on their location and trendy looks to succeed as a business.
Approximately 45 min wait for takeout during peak times. The app/service they use texts you immediately when it's ready, so no need to wait outside (if you prefer to wait in your parked car). It's a hefty square, so the $5/square math is a bit deceptive. They don't load it up with toppings the way you'd see in Detroit, but it's still tasty. Tried pepperoni 6x8 and the Big Von, the latter of which was a standout with garlic, honey and sausage. Crispy brussel sprouts were another highlight.
Yum. Yum. Yum. Four pieces that are rich and thick. The wings were crispy and the dry rub was tasty too. I'll be back.
Amazing pizza - possibly the best I’ve ever had. Thick crust, great sauce, nice toppings. The dough was a bit fried from cooking with some oil in the pan. It was the perfect combo of crunchy, chewy, and soft in different areas.
I am normally very picky about pizza. I just don’t eat it and I have had some good pizza in the past. I don’t like processed-tasting pizza dough that leaves an aftertaste. I don’t like the quality of mozzarella cheese used most time. I have not been paying attention to the Detroit-style pizza food trend but I had heard of Square Pie Guys. I just inhaled my first square of Square Pie Guys and I am hooked. The crust is so airy and flavorful like eating sourdough bread. I saw a chunk of tomato in the sauce and that cheese, omg! I spied some other items on the menu like those crispy sprouts that I am gunning for.
