A hidden gem in the Grand Lake district of Oakland. And one of the few restaurants in the area that's open til midnight. On my short list for a decent late night dinner.It's rather small and cozy, so you may want to order to go during peak times. And they do a brisk business through the delivery apps. But if you do get a table, the service is friendly and attentive. It feels like a family run business. In fact, it almost feels like you are eating in their living room.The menu is extensive and includes both grilled meats and sushi, as well as other traditional Japanese favorites. My only quibble is that they only use dark meat chicken instead of breast meat. So I ordered steak teriyaki in a "bento" combination that included salad, miso soup, vegetable tempura, and rice. It was plenty of food, all delicious, and reasonably priced at $25.Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy "home cooked" Japanese cuisine.

This place is absolutely amazing. Their sushi is the freshest I've ever had (over three major cities NYC, SF, LA). Everyone else caught on too during covid as their delivery wait times could be sometimes 2+ hours (only on friday nights)! Don't worry though, its worth the wait. Grab yourself a Snow White Roll + a Sunset Roll and thank me later.Don't think twice check out Shogun with the great staff, great food, and caring, welcoming vibes!

Excellent food but set up more for take out right now. Service was excellent! We liked eatting in. Prices are why I gave it 4 not 5 stars.
Worst Sushi I ever eat in town, food served was cold, won’t recommend at all!
