Dim Sum Noodles Soup

Overall, I had a very nice time at Peony Seafood Restaurant. The food awakened my inner Chinese self. The rice jook was rich and creamy, filled with chunks of pork and aged eggs. The chicken feet were difficult to eat and pick up. I preferred the warm chicken feet to the cold, slimy ones. I liked the veggies topped in tofu skin. My favorite dish was the roast pork.

The exclusive dining in the restaurant was exceptional, and the chicken feet were bony. I especially enjoyed the wetness of all the noodles. The octopus was alive and moving on our plate. At first I thought it was a live show, but then it jumped off of the table into my compatriots lap.

This restaurant has been my favorite Chinese restaurant in the East Bay for many years. But I haven’t been there recently due to covid. This past week, I took out for dinner once and dim sum lunch once. The results are mixed. Dinner is still good though I found the portion to be a lot smaller than I remember, not to mention the fairly significant increase in price. The price increase is understandable given covid but I failed to see the need to cut back on portion size. For dim sum lunch takeout, the choices are somewhat limited. For example, no cheung fun was offered in the takeout menu. Most dim sum are still good but again, some portions are reduced noticeably. We have a poorly made sticky rice in lotus leaves. It just did not taste right, not spoiled, but just not tasty. We ordered beef chow fun and country stirred fired rice noodles. Both were poorly made - wrong color, wrong seasoning, and small amount of protein. Very disappointed in the noodles and sticky rice. Could it be that they lost some good cooks? In the past, I always gave this restaurant 5 stars, but not today. I understand covid has a big impact on restaurants but cutting corners will not bring back customers.

Very nice restaurant with reasonable prices. Authentic cantanes dim sum dishes. There is underground parking, we paid $3. Four of us ordered 11 dishes (cost $85) and we were full and content.

First time here. My good friend invited me to try this place out. Very friendly staff, quick to bring out food and reasonable price for the quality. The dim sum is very good quality here. They have a big seating area and they follow covid protocol doing temperature checks at check in. Great experience overall!

Excellent Chinese food. Rather pricey for what it was but, at the same time, quite tasty too. Soup was very great. Enjoyed the meal.

This restaurant reminded me so much of my trip to Hong Kong. The restaurant was ornate and expansive with many patrons dining on dim sum. Most of the customers were Chinese, so we knew we were in the right spot for authentic dim sum. Though I noticed many tables with laminated menus that included photos of the dishes, we were given an iPad from which to place our order. Our meal included stir-fried soy sauce noodles, Berkshire dumplings, spicy dumplings, shrimp & chive dumplings, roast pork spareribs, and eggplant and mushrooms stuffed with shrimp. The food was spectacular! Though the servers didn't speak to us when they would bring our dishes, they nodded when we thanked them. I noticed some interesting dishes in the menu, so I look forward to returning for dinner sometime.

Great dim sum for a reasonable price. I grew up in Hong Kong and the dishes here tasted authentic to dim sum in HK. Highly recommend the salted egg yolk pumpkin. The mango pig dessert was so cute too!

Har Gow, siu mai, pea sprout dumplings, shrimp spring roll, chicken mushroom bun, are all great.

Tasty Dim Sum!! ?
