Came for brunch and sat in the parklet. It was a windy day so the waiter turned up the heater and partially closed the door to help. They had high chairs available. Service was a bit slow and shots were on the pricier side for some standard drinks but overall okay and the presentation was nice. Food was good. I like when places have house made tortilla chips which were still warm
You know that feeling you get but don't understand...well this place gave us terrible service. Food was good but the treatment was horrible. Drinks sucked, not strong enough to even warm you up. They didn't want to serve us a drink because we weren't ordering food with it even though we had just paid the $250 bill for the food we did eat. They purposely didn't have a working heater, yes purposely because they were confused if it didn't work or who can actually turn it on. So they just figured they wouldn't turn it on...oh but other customers were nice and cozy near theirs. We weren't offered inside seating until we complained about how cold it was. We were just automatically escorted to the non working heater. Now going back to the bad feeling...with the police at the corner & cameras everywhere, we were robbed. This place is just bad all the way around. Bad area, bad service & just terrible all around. By the way if you need the police they don't come out. Yes even if they are parked at the corner. They don't help. This is normal for the area (we told by many) and they have literally brushed off any crime in the area. But if you need help you can always go online and fill out a form that will get lost in a stack of papers. It has been a week I have not been contacted. Oh by the way a security guard watched the whole thing go down but because the police don't do anything he was to scared to do anything but watch our car get robbed. At least he gave us the info on what he saw...but who do we tell when the police don't care.Add on: it is hilarious that you (the owner) would say less drinking when we couldn't even get a drink from your bar. For the owner to respond like this kind of proves my point. This place has no respect for their customers. This place is exactly in the area it deserves. Trash. The bottom line is that the service was terrible and had we just left we might not have had a problem. Our mistake was staying and wanting to feed our kids after being in the city all day.Less drinking haha is the funniest part of the reply. I have never known a place to say only 1 drink...especially when they serve weak drinks. By the way the receipt is proof of how many drinks were bought.
Food had good flavor but cold. The outdoor seating was available but surrounded by a ton of flies. Service leaves alot to be desired.. I would never go back.Note to Owner: Giving MY opinion to your restaurant shouldn't be taken so personal. It's simply that.. my opinion. Like I mentioned the food we ordered had GOOD flavor but was cold.. I am pretty sure it was YOUR Molcajete restaurant. Telling me to enjoy life, why? Because I left an honest review? I guess the response confused me...but thank you. You as well.
Did was amazing!!! Family owned and operated, small, cozy, and so so delicious.... BEST hand made tortillas I have ever tried in my life!!! I ordered fajitas which couldn't have been more tasty and they were HUGE!!! The molcajete special was ordered by the table next to me and was something I will definitely be back to try!!! Overall this place gets 10 stars out of five!!! It is a must go!!!
Food was overrated for how expensive it was. I paid 27.00$ for 2 enchiladas and a watered-down Fresca that they told me was made natural with fresh fruit ( which was a lie). I ordered enchiladas to go felt like that gave me a tv dinner the portions were so small.. The red sauce tasted sweet like they added sugar to it . I'm a fan of enchiladas I've had them all over from Arizona to California and this place wasn't good at all .
I found it!!! The search is over. I found an Authentic Chile Relleno in the Bay Area!! Now I have to move to Oakland.I have not been posting the failures of every other Mexican restaurant to produce a Real Relleno! I can't wait to try everything else on their huge menu!Their Mojito hit the SPOT!!! SO MANY DRINKS TO CHOOSE FROM, EVER FLAVOR MARGARITA!
The food was delicious ? The environment so chill and clean everything from the guacamole and chips to the homemade tortillas I can go on and on. I really highly recommend it.
I would no longer recommend this restaurant. The food is no longer as good as when they initially opened. I recently stopped by to grab a burrito and when I returned to my office, the burrito was missing 2 items which I requested. I called the restaurant manager and was so surprised at how rudely he responded while I was being so calm in explaining the issue. I had noticed how the restaurant was declining during a previous visit but was willing to give it another chance but NO MORE.
Always a pleasure to come here! Food is fantastic! Building made in 1927 adds to the charm. Incredible Mexican art and a full bar! Check this downtown Oakland gem out!
The looks of the dining room you think you're going to find more traditional Mexican food instead it's like Mexican-American even with that I've had a lot better the services okay and it was a very clean establishment but the food wasn't that great
