The food is good and the flavors are very well paired. We enjoyed the mushroom dish, the burger, and the pesto pasta. But overall the did was mushy and lacked textures and crunchiness and variety. The restaurant was very dusty and you could see cobwebs everywhere, deep layers of dust on the support beams near the benches. The bathrooms smelled dingy. The wait staff was very pleasant and the highlight of our experience.
I remember coming here before COVID and the menu being better. Maybe we got unlucky with the summer menu options this time around, but we found the flavors to not be very well balanced and that everything was a bit too sweet. We do love that everything is entirely plant-based, so we hope to give this place another chance in the future with different menu options!
Nice restaurant, great service at the bar and overall great energy. The food was good, but I can't say it was wow. Personal opinion too many ingredients in entrees and ingredients don't balance together. I would have enjoyed something simple.
I went here for my birthday and the service and good were top notch. First of all my party was an hour late and we brought an extra person (both of which were our fault) and the hostess and manager bent over backwards to accommodate us and still make us feel special. FYI: We tried calling to notify them but they've been having phone line problems for a month. So we weren't able to talk to them until we got there. Once seated the server was fantastic. The orange dreamsicle (non-alcoholic) and margarita were fantastic. We had the focaccia with olive tapenade olives, pickled vegetables, and asparagus which were good. The beet & endive salad was divine! Get the polenta! Hands down favorite. The veggie burger's texture needed a little more crispiness. The potato tiki was flavorful but not as good as the garlic polenta. The banana split mousse was great. Overall a magical night. This is one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants.
Amazing flavor profiles for plant based! You can't go wrong with anything you order here. It's my favorite place for special occasions.
We chose this restaurant after viewing their website. Expectations were set high with phrases like “the #1 vegetarian restaurant in the world” and a Michelin Bib gourmand award. My starter was described as a vegan take on crab cakes. I found the dish to be unexceptional. Bland taste and boring texture. I also tried the crusted oyster mushroom. This was a much better dish than the crab cakes. It was described by the waiter as a vegan take on calamari. A useful comparison but an unfortunate one as I am not vegan and can vouch that calamari would satisfy my taste buds for effectively. My friend was disappointed with his pasta main course as it was not cooked al denote as he requested. My main course glazed tempeh was so bland I had to leave most of it uneaten. I started to think that a carnivore was just out of place in a vegan restaurant. But a couple of days later I ate at Cafe Gratitude and found their food to be bursting with flavour. So can only conclude that Millennium Restaurant don’t know how to make vegetarian food taste good. I won’t return to this restaurant.
Millenium in Oakland is an exceptional, fully plant-based restaurant. I’ve enjoyed dining here for the past several years and like to bring family or friends to share the experience. During COVID, it appears they’re serving a prix fixe menu (amuse bouche, three courses, and optional wine pairing) for on-site dining and it is 1000000% worth it! Millennium has a menu that changes regularly, an impressive fancy cocktail list, and a host of staff that help make your experience lovely.My sister and I came here for dinner on a weekday night and it was packed! We ordered the prix fixe menu for ~$60, plus a couple cocktails. Being a meat eater, my sister was very skeptical at first. However, after our meal she told me that she’d 100% return!!! We took a few photos of our food, but totally forgot to take dessert photos because everything was delicious! Come to Millenium for your next special occasion meal ?
I thought my meal at Millennium was solidly average.Our drinks were pretty good, both floral cocktails that were enjoyable!The food was hit or miss, which I understand is both a matter of personal preference and what just happens with rotating menus. I generally enjoyed the starters, although I wasn’t the biggest fan of the overstuffed tacos. I had a tempeh dish with grits that I was similarly so-so about.Service was slow and kind of frustrating, despite an empty house that evening, which was disappointing.While I’m still interested in giving Millennium another try, I think there are some pretty good vegan restaurants out there which offer a better experience.
