The food was pretty good and the service was great. Date night dinner. We were pleasantly please. We will be going back!
Cute casual date night spot. We got the mussels, calamari, and the Cajun prawns. The mussels were definitely the highlight, as they were plentiful. But the Cajun prawns were definitely not. It was $26 for 5-6 pieces of regular shrimp and a few stalks of asparagus and I was left feeling still hungry.Walked in on a Friday at 6:30pm. No wait. Didn’t need reservations.
Tasteful. Simple yet unique. We will definitely be coming back here. The description fits, a hidden gem. The testament of car after car after car probably from uber eats and doordash or grubhub will tell you a lot of people have the same opinion as mine.
Omg, Omg Omg!!! I would give this place a 10 stars!!We had the mussel our first time and they were amazing, I had the two Maine lobsters tails so yummy, sweet and flavorful. My teen had the seafood soup!!! Plenty of seafood in the soup!!!I highly recommend this place!! We will be coming back!!!
It's a cozy little restaurant with cute bistro lights strung throughout and very friendly staff. After reading so many rave reviews, my husband and I opted to give it a try.We ordered the lobster roll, the house specialty twice-cooked Maine lobster (per the waitress's recommendation), a cocktail, the chocolate souffle, and the creme brulee. You order the food through your phone and pay with a credit card or you can go up to the register if you don't have a smartphone. I'm not particularly fond of this method since it definitely doesn't fit with the ambience of this restaurant, but apparently it's a growing trend that I hope not too many other restaurants will catch on to.I digress. The food came and the lobster roll was fresh, light, and if you're not too hungry, a good snack. My husband gave it a 4/5. The lobster was piping hot and had wonderful flavor, but for $50, I got a tail and two claws over cold rice. The rice was rather jarring against the lobster, I couldn't tell if it was intentional or the rice had been scooped too early and was left sitting in the dish. Regardless, considering the rice was supposed to soak up the lobster reduction and act as a filler on your plate, it wasn't the best experience. The desserts were straight forward. A good creme brulee and a good souffle. After a bill of over $50 a person, we left uninspired and stopped for a snack on the way home to fill our tummies. If you want to spend a lot of money for a little food, here's your place, but it doesn't hurt to keep searching either.
First time to come here for us. Generally a great experience.Very friendly service. Food hit the right balance of soul food with an elegant touch. Both the fried calamari and the bbq prawns (order it in "regular" if you're not used to eating super spicy - it already packs a punch) were fantastic. For dessert we only had the banana pudding, which was great. The other desserts looked like they are worth a sin too.
I got the Cajun bbq prawns and a garden salad. The prawns were amazing. You know, I’ve eaten a lot of salad and most of the time it’s ok. Their garden salad was phenomenal. It had the best dressing ever. I’ve eaten here before but never gotten take out. It was so much food.
This is a neighborhood gem, family run for 22 years, and serving delicious food. We’d overlooked it for years - more fool us! We popped in last night and had a great meal. It was early and although they do a good takeout and delivery business we had the place to ourselves. The door was open and Covid protocols observed so we felt very safe. You order and pay from QRC/phone or can do counter service. Since we expected that the food could come out quickly we started with a cocktail. They’d no bar tender that night but were well prepared with pre-made ones - our manhattan’s made with Bullet were very good. Then onto some decently priced, lovely red Syrah and our food. We shared everything starting with calamari-delicious. I think they finish with a light sauté in garlic and ginger. Then the Cajun bbq prawns which we ordered spicy and came with a choice of mashed or roasted potatoes or wild rice and asparagus. We selected rice - there was sufficient for two plates and even then we took some home. It tasted as good today for lunch! The rest of the menu looks delicious and we’re excited to return very soon! The prices are reasonable for the area and the food is quality and good portions. Definitely consider giving Marica restaurant a try if you’re in north Oakland. Parking could be tricky so arrive with extra time - or, walk!!
A very cozy and feel likes home restaurant, love this place as first time I walked in, people are friendly and the foods is great, I mean fabulous excellent anyway is really lovely. We got a seafood stew w/ bread, the bread dipped hall stew is sooo goooood, owner say they took many hours to cook, feels like I’m under the sea.And we also order the Cajun bbq shrimp w/ greens, I have to say that the shrimp is fresh definitely, and portion of the greens quite big enough for two people for sharing, also the dressing with the rice I can have it all.As a Chocolate soufflé to end the perfect nite. We love the sweet.
The food and service were exactly what we needed. Spaghetti, clam chowder, and lobster roll are all amazing!
