A week or so ago, when I got home from La Farine, I discovered that my frangipane roll was overdone. The almonds were really burnt and the the filling had run out. When I called the shop, I explained the issue and said I wanted another one. The woman on the phone said OK. I said that because gas is so expensive, I would pick it up the next time I came in, and the woman said OK. I stopped in today to pick up a couple savory buns and asked for my replacement frangipane. The counter person went over and explained my request to the owner. He said they had to see the product, that I had 24 hours to return it, and he was not going to give me anything for free. His tone was accusatory and his attitude was unprofessional. I felt he thought I was trying to cheat him out of a four dollar bun. For years my family enjoyed the savory and morning buns and we often bring the large fruit tarts for dessert when we go out. However, that is over. I refuse to put another penny in the pocket of this rude hostile man. Very disappointed.

Usually a solid chain bakery but I paid for moldy fruit in a parfait today… nasty

Amazing selection of baguettes, cookies, tarts, you name it! I also enjoyed their house coffee. No dine-in at the moment unfortunately

This is my favorite bakery in the bay, though Tartine & Market Hall are close runner-ups. The morning buns here are perfect and that cinnamon currant loaf is to die for! The folks at this location and the Fruitvale one are fantastic- excited to be there and I’m sure are proud of their work - they should be. The croissants and both sweet/savory variations are top notch. My review probably isn’t necessary because this place speaks for itself. I do like the Piedmont location because it is a wonderful space to dine in- bright, minimal- beautiful. Every time I visit my folks I bring my mom a box from this place- usually going carte blanche on the pastry. Thank you La Farine!

Contrary to other reviews, we really didn't like the cookies we bought and tasted at home. They did look great in the display though. Granted, we did not try anything else and this was our first visit along Piedmont Avenue and in this bakery. It is "french" by its title. If we return to Piedmont Avenue, we would visit and try something else. It could be just our taste prefence or that's what they do. It's not fair to really criticize without trying more selections. However, if you prefer "soft" cookies, make sure you ask for a sample.

This place is amazing & the goods always beautiful + delicious! Oh, yeah and they run out of things quickly so get there early

Boutique style bakery.Got some pretty looking cake and some good sourdough loaf for you. Also, some delicious cheesecake.

Their bread, morning buns (sweet and savory) and croissants are all wonderful. The fresh fruit tarts are spectacular and so beautiful. I avoid coffee because I don't like their flavor but anything that comes out of the ovens is delicious. Get there before 9am to avoid a rush!

Great local bakery with wonderful bread, pastries, and desserts. Plenty of available street parking out front in the mornings. Love their savory morning buns, especially.

La Farine is a first-class French bakery with the most delectable treats. The quality is obvious when you just look at their offerings — but when you taste them, you will immediately be transported to culinary heaven. We purchased cookies, a cake and a fruit tart and were delighted with everything. Also available are wonderful breads. Tip: Around holidays, they sell out quickly, so get there real early!
