The food was tasty and the servers were very responsive, however as a party of 4 we did not get our food or drinks delivered at the same time. We had to ask a few times for our side of millionaires bacon. All in all I'd come back.
Visually appealing and great tasting food. Nice location. 4 stars given for being rushed by staff. I understand it's a very busy place and they want to get people in and out. However it was very comfortable to feel rushed.
At last. I have been saving to visit KS for a special occasion for SF. Today is the day in Oakland, Rockridge! Found my crowd early in the morning. Wait list check-in was smooth. We are in. Very hard welcoming staff from door to the table, and at the table. All smiling all the way. Coffee is hot in nice ceramic cup. I had missed sitting down. Ordered the mystery item for me. Tornado Galbi Omurice. Hope we are not in Kansas anymore. Wow!!! I am back to Seoul. This is a special day.
Great food and nice area! The wait for a table and then food a bit long (not surprised considering it was Sunday morning on a beautiful spring day). 100p recommend the millionaire bacon
TL;DR - Solid, could be betterAs other reviewers have commented, the food didn’t come out all at once and the Millionaire’s Way (Millionaire’s Bacon with Honey Butter and Biscuits) never came at all.The Story Burger (wagyu patty, avocado, fried onion, tomato, arugula, pickles, American, ordered medium rare, served medium-well) was tasty enough, and juicy without being drippy. That said, the patty was very thick, very finely ground, lacked any kind of crust, and could have used a touch more salt. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of brioche as a burger bun, though this one wasn’t overly sweet and held up until the last bite. Given the thick patty and bun, the avocado and tomato pretty much slid out immediately and the American wasn’t melted. The potato wedges, unfortunately, were under-fried.So, why 3 stars? The cocktails and vibe were really nice, and while the service could have been better, staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Further, the ricotta lemon pancakes were good (but could have used more lemon), and the egg dishes were enjoyed well-enough by other in our party. Th potatoes that came with the egg dishes were good too.I might come back again to try the Millionaire’s Bacon and possibly the Korean fried chicken sandwich or the wings. There are definitely worse places to eat and if you’re curious about this place, I’d say try it. It’s definitely not the worst place I’ve eaten and if Kitchen Story can figure out how to ensure that dishes come out on time and are perhaps a little more thoughtful about how some of their dishes eat/are seasoned, I think this place could be pretty good.
Our first visit to Kitchen Story today was awesome. Great staff, service and thoroughly enjoyed their creative fusion menu. We’ll be back!
Excellent breakfasts. I ordered delivery and it arrived hot. Excellent eggs and potatoes. So glad I gave it a try. The Korean fusion made it even better.
The food was really delicious and different from your normal Korean/Fusion fare. The serving was very generous and had a beautiful presentation as well. My family and I really enjoyed the Lemon Ricotta pancakes the most!
This place just isn't worth it for me. They have some nice dishes, but after 3 times visiting, I can't say I'll be back. The customer service is not great - probably because they don't have enough staff. The last 2 times, AFTER seating us and taking our order, they informed us the food would be ~60 min. The first time, they didn't tell us at all. This very pretty dish pictured, with 2 small shrimp and a teaspoon of crab, is $25. Plain lattes are $6. They brought out 2 half-cold dishes after 45 min and then took an additional 20 for the tofu scramble, leaving 1 person in our party of 3 to watch us eat for 20 minutes for a dish that should have taken 5 to prepare. If you need anything, you have to wave down a server, any server, and pray they're willing to make eye contact. To top it all off, after sub-par service at best, our party of 3 was charged a mandatory 20% gratuity. I'm not about underpaying anyone, but I've also never heard of mandatory 20% for a small party? Especially when I talked to other servers more than my own?Idk, just won't be back.
We enjoyed a delightful brunch one rainy weekend. It’s a small restaurant, so if it’s raining, call first to make sure you get a table. We happened to snag 2 tall chairs at the bar. Food was delicious. We tried the Millionaire’s bacon, the tacos and the chicken mango melt + tomato bisque. Parking was a pain (especially in the rain lol) but it was worth the walk (err, run ?).
