We really wanted to like this place but as with another review from about a week ago, the noodles were so overcooked they resembled mush and completely fell apart when we tried to portion them out with tongs. We ordered 4 dishes to get a reasonable variety of their noodles range: Chongqing street noodles, twice cooked pork noodles, Noodles with pickled mustard & pork, and Kung Pao chicken. All noodles were overcooked/mushy regardless of whether they were stir fried or had a soup base (packed separately). We will try dining in person at the outdoor tables next time to see if this was an off-night and update the review, but tonight's food was beyond disappointing.
My best friend and I happened to stumble upon this hidden gem on our walk home from the Jack London Square Farmer's Market. She had the sesame noodles, I had the street beef noodle soup (which I'm really glad I did!), and we shared the mushrooms in hot oil. It was excellent. The noodles were asymmetrical and some parts were thicker than others (even within the same noodle). But the noodles are prepared in house so one can expect some of that. It's the flavor that matters more to me and this place had PLENTY of it!Everything was fresh, fresh, fresh! And you can taste the love in their food! There were mostly Asian people at this Asian eatery--which is a really good sign. They placed a big speaker outside, playing really fun 80's+ music at just the right volume. Currently, they only have outdoor seating and a bit accepting Apple/Google pay. I admit, the service was a bit slow but not terrible by any means and definitely worth the wait. There were some regulars while I was there, which the staff knew by name. Pretty cool. I may become a regular myself!
THESE NOODLES. Omg, superb. It’s got everything you want and need, and then some. I meannn, I love my noodles, and this knife cut cold noodles is one of the best. Ever. Sweetness, spiciness, numbiness! Acidity! Yes. To all of it! 5/5
Unfortunately, there was a fire during quarantine at the old location in Chinatown. They have a temporary space in Old Oakland on Washington Street. Excellent noodle soups please order and support them!
The noodles were very good. (We tried the Chongqing Street noodles, Bean Paste Sauce, and Tomato & Egg Sauce). Also enjoyed the Beef Tendons w/ Chili Oil.Service needs a bit of work.
Open for outdoor dining. It can be cold now.The huangcheng cold noodle is amazing. The chongqing street noodle is also good.
I was craving Chinese noodles after my friend was mentioning about it. First time coming here and loved the amount of food selections, especially for sauce noodles and noodle soups. I ordered the chongqing noodles and beef tendon with chili oil. Highly recommend! Also, the server was super friendly and provided great service. One of the things I miss most about Asia is the extreme hospitality. Definitely got that feeling here. Glad I came here and will definitely come back to try their other recommendations!
If peppercorn is your thing, come through. The cold noodles were super good. Add a side of warm soup (recommended by the waiter) and you'll be set. There was enough parking and the wait wasnt too long. Seating is outside and theres a nice ambiance. They had a speaker setup outside with some light tunes.
Food was delicious! Tried multiple different items and all were enjoyable:) staff was helpful and funny. Thank you
10/10 service and food! was very clean and had fun staff who gave great recommendations. the house noodles are a must-try!
