I was expecting a lot. Everything was off. Our server didn't seem to like us. The fritters were delicious but had sat for awhile before we got them. My pork chop was tepid but pretty good although a little tough. The veggie mix was good but the tempura beans were rubbery. We got the wrong squash dish and the eggplant appetizer was not to our taste. My friend's cod dish was tasty but lukewarm. Overall a big bust.
Truly awful. I have had takeout friend chicken from them before, so was hoping for the best for a sit down dinner. They should just stick to takeout fried chicken. The food was overpriced and terrible, and the service worse. We had the fritters (pretty good), black cod (would have been ok if it hadn't been served cold), the pork chops (chewy, cold, with terribly prepared sides) and the eggplant (horrific). The server pretty much ignored us unless i got up to ask him for something, paying more attention to the table next to us...not sure why, perhaps as middle-aged women we weren't quite as interesting? They also got our order wrong on one dish, but the food was already so bad we preferred not having it corrected.
A lot of good flavors but some issues as well.The beef tataki is a very small portion for the price. Flavor is decent but the purée adds no flavor.The uni and roe oyster was tasty but there was three pieces of cracked shell in there that I had to spit out.The soba pasta was my favorite dish, basically al dente pasta.Brussel sprouts were tasty but a little bit too burnt.Service was quick and efficient.
Great place for drinks and delicious fried chicken. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly. Crispy and juicy on the inside. The service is great. I felt at home.
I ordered fried chicken and biscuits from here a week ago and it was terrible. Half of the chicken and all the biscuits were rubbery and stale as if they’d been sitting for hours rendering them inedible. The delivery driver was on time so it wasn’t their fault. Had I’ve been at the restaurant I doubt they’d of played me that way. Regardless, given my treatment I’ll never patronize this establishment again. There are far better places who care about the quality of their food for all of their customers and Bay Area prices are too steep to pay for less than great quality. I’ll be skipping over Hopscotch for all future orders.

I had an amazing experience at hopscotch. Not only was the food super good but my busser Alex was more polite, experienced and passionate about his job than most waiters. He truly was the cherry on top and I will be back soon. I hope to see him taking my orders soon. Thank you

We got in for brunch this weekend and it was everything I expected. Amazing food and service. One of the best brunch spots around!This place is an Oakland treasure. The oysters are always a highlight and the craft cocktails are amazing. This is a date night place that we are always so happy with.Tonight in particular was amazing because they had both a wedding party and a birthday party and our service was completely unaffected. Truly amazing. Great job team! We look forward to our next Hopscotch date night.
