Whoever fried that chicken, knows exactly what their doing!!! It was seasoned to perfection! The food was tasty, the waitress was very nice, and the cook knows how to make a great tasting dish!
My new favorite place to dine. The food was terrific. I had the Angie Special. The chicken breast was juicy and flavorful and the waffle melted in my mouth. I would be remissed if I didn't shout to the staff. They were very hospitable, so warm and welcoming. Ms. Marva is the BEST. She made us feel right at home.
The manager here is a beautiful woman! She was doing 3 different jobs because some of her employees called in. The food was AMAZING! The waffles are ridiculous..they are addictive. At the end of the night the manager takes the food she was going to throw out and feeds the homeless that are around the restaurant!..this place is AMAZING! However I got my car broken into while eating here..I HATE Oakland!
Very nice restaurant the food is delicious and the staff is great. They all were very helpful they went above and beyond their job title and helped out a damsel n distress ☺️ Thank you Larry and the rest of the staff your help was greatly appreciated.
This place is GREAT! We had the most wonderful and thoughtful servers last night, a nice tall, thin, very kind young man, and a very sweet tall thin lady with short hair. I wish I would have gotten their names! They were so sweet. I was sad about some event and got really emotional about it with my adult son while at the table and our servers could tell I was kind of a mess, even though I wish I hadn't been, but unfortunately I was, but they were both so kind and understanding and sensitive, and I REALLY appreciate them for that! Also their service was excellent, as was the food. It was very tasty, hot, and served quickly! The corn muffin the lady brought me made me feel much better too. Lol. Can't wait to go back again soon...this time in a better frame of mind ??
I usually don’t write reviews, but this has really bothered me how bad this food was. I’m from LA and I am used to great tasting soul food at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles, so I thought soul food in Oakland has to be just as good or better. The waitress that seated us was really, really sweet. We ordered orange juice that seemed like it was still concentrated and somebody forgot to add the water as directed. I ordered the fried breast and waffle. It was served in a plastic to-go box with the chicken on top of the waffle separated by paper. Mmmmmm no ma’am. The chicken breast was unidentifiable with absolutely no flavor or seasoning whatsoever. There were two balls of skinless meat with a bone attached in the middle. The waffle was flat and overcooked. I tried to add hot sauce, but even that didn’t help. My husband had the omelet, also served in a plastic to-go box, and said the chicken inside tasted old like it had been sitting and not freshly cooked. We were very disappointed and won’t be returning to this establishment on our next visit to the area. We should have read the most recent reviews first. It was an unexpected bad experience, except for the sweet little lady that served us.
Maybe people that went here has certain expectations upon arrival or they just sensitive but i by far had the best customer service experience I’ve had in a long time. The food was unbelievable and service was beyond expectations. They still take precaution on covid which from a business stand point makes perfect sense. People may disagree but This spot is better then Roscoes. I will most definitely be going here again before I leave Town…
The chicken was so tough you could not chew it! This is the second time. I don't know if they are cooking it too quickly or what but horrible each time. I went 6 months ago and again on this Sunday morning. Oh and the last time I went they literally must have dropped the salt shaker in the greens and this time the green beans had no seasoning and were gritty , but not good. The mac and cheese ok. But I'm being totally honest I'll never go again. It's like the chicken was either a tough old bird on two occasions or they just aren't preparing it right. In the future I'll make my own at home because this is not a coincidence but I can say Cassandra carmen cake is always a hit...! The waffles were good. But honestly the chicken was definitely a miss.....The bell pepper in the green beans is also a interesting twist that I was not here for. To say the least it's best to cook at home and for the most part this is not in the same category as the real Waffle house that stays open 24 hours in other states. This also is by far no comparison to Roscoe's....? Should have called my credit card company for my $60.00 dollars. ☹

Food is alright but does not make up for the extremely rude attitude. Very rude greeting, they stand around while you’re waiting to be seated, and have horrible table service. The atmosphere is just totally unwelcoming.
