It's all about the ice cream! Food is still good, but it's secondary. Still my favorite toasted almond ice cream. Mitchell's in SF is a close second.The Black and Tan is part of my last meal dessert. ?
How did this place get a top ranking?? Are Trump people counting the ballots?? Only time I visit is when out of town people want to go, so I suck it up and try to look happy while wistfully thinking about Barney’s Gourmet Burgers 2 blocks down the street. Tourist trap are 2 words that come to mind. Consistently average in my 25 years of eating here. Burgers average, fries ok, ice cream ok. But hey - the kids consider it a destination and they give you cool hats that make for wonderful family pictures. Not worth the long lines either. Not trying to be mean, but want readers to know my reviews have integrity.
Ice cream is good (will not give samples so lots of guessing). Sundaes are large but a bit overpriced ($15-18) and can be shared. Pie - got peach (6/10) and apple (4/10) - filling was good but soggy crust; size of slices varied drastically - by about 50%. Would go back because this is a nostalgic (good for taking tourist friends) but there are many ice cream shops that offer equitable or better (!!) sundaes.
My granddaughter and I always love sharing a banana split at Fenton’s whenever we are in the Vacaville area. Delicious ice cream and excellent service.
Food is not bad, steak sandwich was really good!Good serving sizes, pistachio ice cream isn’t my fav, bubble gum is so yummy!! We also got the blueberry swirl and strawberry cheesecake, it’s great as well! I think they have the specials that change pretty regularly as well, which is very interesting.
Patty's were juicy, onion rings were fat and crispy and the ice-cream was abundant, rich and darn good delicious? ?. ??Plan on trying the whole menu.
Bigger than I imagine it'd be. Selections were decent and prices were fair for the sizes available. Came in for a quick rest and refresh. Got a 10.50 size cup of bubblegum ice cream and sat outside in the patio area. They have a sign stating to be inside proof of vaccine is required for those wondering. The parking lot is small but from the looks of it its a local hot spot so most other customers were walking in from the streets. I enjoyed it a lot. I want to return and try out the more advanced menu items I was looking at outside of just the basic ice cream in a cup which was just what I wanted to begin on this trip!
You can count on Fentons for good food (my favorite is the pastrami Rueben) and GREAT ice cream desserts ? ?!!!
High end ice cream with creative flavors and great service
I've been going to fentons for 50 years and what keeps me coming back is the nostalgia, but after this last visit, I'm not sure nostalgia is enough. Prices are ridiculous, service is only okay (this last time we waited over 30 min just to get our name on the list), and food is meh. I don't want to write it off for good, but it will be a while before I go back.
