Rating is 3.5. The place was cute and food had a lot of creativity and thought into it.+1 on wine+1 on staff - we were served by Peter and he was great and you can tell the staff had solid harmony around them.+1.5 on food creativity however it was more on the salty end and didn't map to its price point -0.5-1 we were seated at the end of the bar which is okay, we love bar seating. HOWEVER the dish-washing section was right infront of us, and they had curtains wide open that we can see the trash with food in it. We did ask for the curtains to be closed but it needed to be open for circulation (understandable) however, one does not need to pay $130 to eat infront of the trash. We then asked to be moved to the end of the bar after persisting.I frankly don't understand why the restaurant would think thats an okay location for seating for any customer, the space left of the restaurant is a wide open space where they can extend out a bar seating against the wall.We ordered the celery salad which was delicious.Pork buns, were like sliders. That is also delicious but wasn't special.Miso pasta, very creative but salty.I recommend folks to give it a try but will not be returning.
Best meal of the year so far! Every dish was delicious and unique. My favorite bites were the celery salad and the porchetta. The servers were very attentive and friendly as well. I will definitely be back soon.
I barely ever write reviews, but honestly I wanted to like this more than I did. I went as a group of five. We did everything family style so we could try more things. I went into this knowing that I would be paying more than usual. But the portions are small. I Our bill was like 300+ and I went home like I ate a bunch of appetizers and I'm a small person. Its not like I want a meal like a line backer. I wanted to order more but I knew that our tab was already up there. I felt like the five of us were fighting over tiny pieces of cod and noodles cause it wasn't big enough to share. The wait staff were friendly and inviting but when we said we're going to share, none of them said anything about the portion size when we said will that be enough. The food was interesting on paper but in reality it was just okay.I wont be coming back, but it's shame cause I want to support restaurants like this
Still outdoor dining only as of Feb. 23, back patio and front parklet. Good selection of natural wines. Eggs and chicken liver mousse were my faves.
Twice in one week? Ok fine! Such a fun spot. I love the funky energy from the space, to the wait staff, to the food. Everything is good but the highlights for me….. The celery salad and the radicchio salad I’m going to dream about.Pictures are of the beef tartare and miso pasta.
Delicious food and great wine options! Wish there was a happy hour, but will come regardless.
My new favorite spot! This place is place is perfect. Just had an amazing first time here! The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and just plain fun. The menu is unique and tasty. They have very tasty zero ABV beverage options as well. I’m in love and cannot wait to return.
Delicious food with deep flavor and unusual combinations. Yummy and casual.
fabulous staff and atmosphere, each dish I had was super delicious and surprising, literally each wine I had was really good, and staff was very helpful in finding what I would like. If I lived in the Bay Area, I’d be spending my restaurant time at DayTrip - and will when I’m back!
This place is a dining experience- PHENOMENAL! What a gem for Oakland. I will be a regular here.COVID-conscious, they check vax status and have plenty of outdoor space for social distancing.Do not miss the focaccia (omg ?), celery salad, miso pasta, and if they have crab- get it!!
