Still great after 20 years! Just looove the combo plates. I get the vegan and the meat combos. Both the meat and veggie sambussas are good with the hot sauce, nice appetizer. My husband loves the meat combo plate and we eat here at least once per week. He’s from New Orleans and this has that stewy depth of flavor that he craves. I’m from Cali and it has the clean fresh flavor I love so it is a win win for us. So glad this institution is still here. Yea I have tried others but I always come back to the best. Love cafe colucci! The new spice venture is fire. The food is as delicious as ever. Thank you.

Great outdoor seating, loved the music and ambience, excellent service. Best version of Ethiopian food I've tried.I had the Golden Mango and Honey Wine for drinks, and the veggie platter and lamb for entrees.

Horrible customer service. Wait staff was not attentive, and standoff. Or trying to hook up with other patrons. The food was horrible. All of the food was consistency of watery baby food. All the food had the same taste, none of the dishes had a distinct flavor. Needless to say, this place is very unauthentic and caters to an ignorant palate.******For an authentic Ethiopian meal go to ADDIS, which is right down the street.*****

May not be Celiac friendly. The food and service were 5 stars but my experience was 1 so I'm averaging it out. Several hours after my meal (eggplant tibs with the gluten free injera) I became horribly ill. I assumed food poisoning but figured I would get my leftovers tested for gluten out of curiosity. My gluten free injera came back with a high positive for gluten using the EZ-Gluten test kit though recent evidence has brought my confidence in these test kits down. I'm still not sure if it was food poisoning or gluten contamination/injera mix up that made me sick. It's a real shame because the food really was excellent.

This was my first experience of Ethiopian cuisine and it was great. A good selection of delicious dishes, generous serving sizes and plenty of vegan options.

The flavors feel like home. Warm, like my Auntie, Smooth like my Father, Tangy with a tiny bite, like my Ma… Thing is, I’ve been away from the area for a time. I’m so glad my favorite restaurant in Oakland hasn’t changed. Still outstanding food, courteous and helpful staff and a clean vibe throughout the place and food. Thanks for feeding me well. I hope to return soon.

Ordered delivery for lunch once, also had it later that night for dinner... and for brunch the next day! It's that good.

The mushroom tibs is the absolute best! Along with the meat and veggie sampler. Such a delicious spot and ideal with some friends too. The imported beer was a tasty way to wash it all down. The sambussies, both meat and veggie are bomb too. Finally, the service is amazing. I love Colucci!

One of my favorite Ethiopian spots in the area. Absolutely killer food with lots of great non-meat items you can't find at other similar joints like mushroom, eggplant, or shrimp tibbs. Don't sleep on colucci ✨

This place used to be great. I was a regular here pre-covid. However, I had a shocking experience today. I ordered meat sampler and it was good, like old times. Nothing to complain there, infact I liked it. Then I thought of pampering myself and ordered Tiramisu for dessert. Horror! horror! They gave me the following. I quizzically said - "This is Tiramisu?". The waitress gave me an intense look and said "Yes, it is. This is how we make it here." I was appalled. I didn't know if I should laugh, protest, or just gulp it down. With sugar rush taking over, I decided to dig in. It was a chocolate cake like it appeared (I don't know why I dug in). I had rated 5 stars previously, I am downgrading it to 2 stars because of the lady who served me "tiramisu" today. Clearly, she either doesn't know what tiramisu is, or worse, she assumed that I don't look like a person who knows what I am ordering. Not going back again. They have definitely lost a faithful customer here.
