Came in hearing that Burma Superstar was super popular in the area so wanted to try it myself. I got the Superstar fries because it was the cheapest thing on the menu and the description sounded pretty delicious, describing it as a spicy, savoury, umami bomb with a condiment called balachaung. Once I started eating though, it tasted horrendous. I tossed most of it. I later learned after looking online that balachaung is made with shrimp, and I do not eat seafood. It would have been greatly helpful if the description explained what balachaung was, especially for people with allergies.

Love everything about this place? Now with Burns Bites -and it being 2 blocks from my house- take out has risen to a whole new level.Creative fresh and quality ingredients make Burma a real treat!Tea Leaf salad is in a league of its own.Dive in, you can’t go wrong!

Thank you for filling portions and great gluten free fried chicken. Burma bites has become one of my favorite take out places during this pandemic. As a busy artist, I love being able to order and get my food so quickly. Everything I’ve had I really like. Yesterday I got mint chicken and it was really great but definitely didn’t taste like it had mint. I added my own fresh mint from my garden and it was perfect. Good job Burma Bites. Thanks for being here

I've been going to Burma since it was one place on Clement St in SF. I was so happy to find them in Oakland when I moved over 4 years ago but I have to say the quality has been in decline over the last couple years. It feels like they are more focused on production than quality. Burma Bites was just a step further in that direction... I was expecting single serve portions and pricing but what I got was tough $18 beef curry and a side of pricey coconut rice that was over portioned and not at all satisfying.I also wanted the Tea Leaf salad but it was sold out and the alternative was like another $18 so I skipped it.

I love Burma Superstar but their takeout has always left something to be desired. Burma Bites is some of the best food I’ve ever had. That’s saying a lot as a foodie in Oakland. So many great choices. Highly recommended.

It's Burma Superstar, but faster. Meaning, it's awesome.

The flavorful and sometimes spicy Burmese food with make your tastebuds tingle. The fiery lamb, ginger chili pork, and walnut shrimp are some of my favorite mains. Both the tea leaf salad and rainbow salads are delightful. My daughter really loved the platha and curry dip.

Great food truck style dishes, good portions and always tasty. Usually at least a 10 minute wait, but I walk over to Curbside Creamery and pick up ice cream for dessert and by then the food is ready.

Ordered ahead online for pickup and they said it would be ready in 20 mins. 15 mins later I got a text saying food is ready. I go in to pick it up and it's not ready yet. It took another hour for our food to be ready and when we got home a dish was missing from our order.

First time trying Burmese food and it was delicious. The staff was so friendly and suggested great items. Will definitely be back.
