It’s chicken sandwich, you can either be bad at it or an excellent creation, like at Betty’s! So crunchy and a big juicy piece of chicken, the roll was soft and tasty. I topped mine off w Habanero sauce cuz that’s how I roll.
BSB is a staple anytime we are in Oakland/Berkeley early enough. The chicken is juicy, the bread is bouncy and soft but not too soft that it can still hold the chicken. The slaw!!!! The slaw is my favorite part. It is one of a kind. Been trying to figure it out for years now how to copy it.But don't stop there!!!Any of their baked goods are TOP NOTCH. The scones, cookies, strawberry shortcake can make a girl lose control in one sitting.Don't let the lines discourage you. They. Work fast. And have excellent service.
The fried chicken sandwich didn’t live up to the hype imo. Needed more spices/rub/pickled ingredients. Overall, it was still very good but not 5 star must have. Hot sauce is a must IMO.We got the strawberry shortcake too and it was good.
Jeez it’s been years since I’ve dropped by here, I honestly had forgotten how good this place is. I love that the fried chicken sando is so minimal, that slaw does so much work. You’d think oh maybe this needs a sauce, maybe some pickles, perhaps a slice of tomato… But no. This thing rocks as is. Absolutely eat it with the hot sauce.Most people talk about the strawberry shortcake, but I’m here to tell you to get the pecan shortbread, it’s perfect.

If I could give Bakesale Betty 6 stars, I would. Three years ago-I received an incorrect, but still delicious pie from the store and Betty generously promised to replace it for free. Three years and a pandemic have passed, and today Betty honored that promise when many would have ignored it. The pumpkin pie and shortbread chocolate chip cookies are as extraordinary as they come, and let it be known this is a bakery with a heart, soul, and uncommon emphasis on human kindness.
Got a fried chicken sandwich, two scones, a cinnamon roll, and a chicken pot pie. Everything was quite tasty, though the pot pie filling wasn't quite what I was expecting (it was still very tasty though). Would describe it as having a gravy-like consistency, with lots of leeks, carrots, and chicken. Definitely scratched my comfort food itch.
THE BREAD PUDDING IS AMAZING!!! How good is it??.....If the bread pudding caused diabetes I would still buy it and die happy... that good...
