A few years back I would have given this place 5/5 stars however, as the years past I've noticed that the quality and flavors of the food have declined to the point to where it doesn't even taste like Ethiopian food. Everything is bland and it's very obvious what Asmara's new target audience is. It's very sad to see another place that makes authentic good food change for the worse.

The restaurant was very welcoming! Food was what I was craving (it tastes similar to my mothers home cooked food), waiters were extra friendly & the place was clean. They earned my business because of this so I definitely recommend!
I have been going to this restaurant for the past 4 years, and I really like the vibe in here, the host and servers are always nice and helpful. Unfortunately the past 2 years the food is loosing its quality, its becoming flavorless. Even thou the price is almost the same with the others Eritrean/ethiopian restaurants but the portion is very different. Today I couldn't go to the restaurant so I orderd on doordash a meat combination; when you go to other restaurants "like Addis in Telegraph or caffe Eritrea" this meal is more than enough for two people, but the one I order from this restaurant was not enough even for 1 person. I always support black owned business and habesha restaurants, and at the same time I don't like when restaurant loose their quality instead of improving.
Excellent food, I really recommend, the Meat Combination Plate was amazing (a combination of Ziggni / Key Watt, Doro Watt and Ye- Beg Alicha) excellent place and service ?

I’ve tried other Eritrean and Ethiopian restaurants in the area but Asmara by far is the best one of all. I’ve eaten here many times and during Covid-19 pandemic closure, take away home. We as family enjoy this food so much and keep coming back regularly.Great food, environment, owner and staff is friendly and quality is always consistent. I’d recommend it for sure if you want to try something different and healthy. Don’t forget to try the home made honey wine with your food. Bon-a-petite!
