We came here after our daughters award ceremony at Cal State Northridge. It was first time at this location and haven’t been to a Islands Restaurant in 20 years. We were seated right away. We ordered drinks including 2 margaritas and were not great. I had all you can eat chicken tortilla soup and I had 3 bowls. Everyone else got hamburgers. We started with nacho appetizer which was good! The service was a bit lacking. We were disappointed a few times, the food was okay and overall so-so experience
This Islands is what you typically expect from the chain. It's a surf themed restaurant, burgers and fish taco thing going on.Take it or leave it, that's why I gave them three stars.During the lunch crowd you'll get a lot of office workers that come in here in the neighboring area. Early dinner crowd is more of a family place, couples date night vibe.The Bar: Don't expect any kind of singles scene here. It could happen, total fluke kind of thing, like if it was somebody's birthday party???Came in today for the Happy Hour specials. Nice choices both for food and beverages.Beachside Sliders: if you took all three of them and can bind them together, it would be about the size of a regular burger. You do have to specify if you want cheese or not, which cost about a dollar extra. I do like the crunch of the fried onions, and the burger was tasty. Problem here is that they are really thin, so they cook too fast. One of them was medium, and the other two were probably closer to well done.Island Nachos: Need to specify if you want chicken added for $2 more. They we're like buying tortilla chips at the market, then throwing sliced processed cheese on top. Nothing fancy. It does come with a dollop of sour cream and a dollop of guacamole.Service: Our bartender was on point, really helpful, made a few suggestions. Nachos and Sliders took about 20 minutes to serve though, and the place was at 40% capacity. So does it really take that long to throw food on the plate that's probably already precooked anyway????Parking lot is free and Big.Might come back here, might not. It would have to be for some birthday party or something. ;)

We came in and the host greeted us, but she looked very unprofessional. She was wearing a hoodie that was too big and was falling off of her shoulders. Her clothes were kind of wrinkled and her pants were just unkempt. It was a terrible look. The service was excellent and the food was spot on. Everything tasted great and they got our order right! Great food and good service
Food was hot and tasty. Service was wonderful. Food came out quickly, burger was on the rare side, but all else was as expected.
Diane, was the person to taking my to-go order very knowledgeable on the menu as well as she answered my question very quickly and on point. Made me feel as I was at home. She was funny to took the stress from my day today life. Thank you. Food was great.
I ordered a hula burger with SAUTE’d mushrooms with a side of teriyaki sauce, cooked medium. I got fried/burned mushrooms on a well cooked patty with no teriyaki. We also ordered sliders with no onions with cheese. We got overcooked sliders with a corner of cheese a squirt of ketchup and a side of pickles. So disappointing.
Food was delicious! From the cheddar fries appetizer, to the burgers, down to the Kona pie dessert, it was all amazing! Will definitely come again
Great food, had a lot of options to choose from, only downside would be that there may be a wait before you're seated because of covid spacing restrictions.
