There is nothing to hate here! How could anyone dislike a frozen banana dipped in chocolate! It’s so good. And the ice cream and balboa bars? We didn’t try these, only the frozen bananas, but those that we saw looked amazing. I’d make it a point to stop here for a frozen banana and I’m thankful I don’t live close as my diet would be shot, these are that good!
Delicious treat that is fun to eat. Being my 1st visit, I opted for the frozen banana of course! I went with dark chocolate and salted caramel. What a tasty combo ?
The frozen banana comes with an eclectic range of flavors and toppings and is pretty sizeable! One may be too big to finish (it certainly was for me!)
Specialty dessert spot that's famous for their frozen banana. Their menu doesn't have a ton of different options but they're great at what they have. Kids loved the ice cream and my wife and I enjoyed the frozen banana. It was huge and enough to share.
DO NOT GET SUCKED IN! We saw all these signs for frozen bananas while visiting this lovely town. So, of course, we had to try one. What a stupid rip off! It is simply a frozen banana dipped in a glaze with some toppings on it. That’s not the problem; the problem is it’s $6.00! Six dollars for a banana. In addition, the milk chocolate topping is non-dairy. I understand that some people might need that due to allergies, but then at least have both dairy and non-dairy options for that. They do have a regular dark chocolate, but for people who don’t like dark chocolate that doesn’t do any good. The chocolate was disgustingly flavourless. Do not get sucked in by the signs making you believe this is some special culinary thing, it’s simply a way to rip off tourists. DO NOT GET SUCKED IN!!!!
First time getting a frozen banana and it did not disappoint! Got the frozen banana with classic chocolate and heath bar. Loved all the options and they have options if you’re not a fan of frozen bananas. Also can do the chefs pick where they decide your toppings which loved that idea. Highly recommend as a treat after you walk around Balboa Island.
The people who help you here are always courteous and friendly, and the ice cream is good. However, they recently increased their prices and reduced the portions, so now it's a little too pricey for my pocket. I had just gotten a medium pizza and two drinks at CDM for less than I paid here for 3 VERY small scoops of ice cream with a few sprinkles.
Awesome Frozen bananas - it's fun to experience this unique treat - even more fun for those who watch arrested development shout-out. We got a regular frozen banana with "everything" toppings which was sweet but surprisingly light. The Balboa bar was packed with flavor (we got Reese's and fruity Pebble topings) and another frozen banana with pb&j and almonds. Overall a fun tasty time ?
Great place for Frozen Banana, and Balboa Bar. Only place i go on the island.
There is always money in the banana stand! If you know what that line is from then you are already probably planning to get one of these delicious dipped and topped frozen bananas or a yummy Balboa bar! You have your choice of topping, we went for the “everything” on the banana and watched as it was hand dipped and sprinkled with deliciousness. The Balboa bar gives you a choice of ice cream (or sorbet) and toppings. Service was pretty fast although it kept getting slowed down by folks overwhelmed by the choices!
