During our 5-day visit to Irvine this past week, we visited this particular Moulin location twice because we were so fascinated by literally every aspect of the establishment. I had even walked over to see the Moulin Bouillon a few doors to the left on Wednesday and who could have ever imagined that I would see the amazing and legendary owner Laurent walk into and out of the restaurant during my few minutes of exploring the menu posted outside! His Parisian recreations and ability to keep growing while maintaining such a complex environment is so phenomenally moving in itself that I actually always forget to take photos of the food because I'm taken by the excitement of finally trying the menu items from this eatery that I have been longing to dine at for over a year leading up to this very visit. My parents & I all absolutely adore the food and drinks offered here and we are so happy that when we move to Irvine this summer from Honolulu, our senses will find culinary inspiration that is both nourishing and artistic. The ham and cheese friand was sensational and the raspberry flaky pastry according to my mom is incredibly difficult to make as perfectly as it tasted when we had taken it back to our hotel, and of course the hot food deli was also magical as the potato and ground beef mash had carrots and other vegetables inside that tasted crunchy yet somehow soft enough to chew comfortably which was actually a delightfully shocking first and the chicken leg was also just beautiful and tasty beyond my ability to describe. The chicken pesto sandwich I had purchased for the early flight home the next morning actually microwaved beautifully in the very same white bag they packed it for me in and of course tasted amazing, healthy, and was big enough but not too much -- and was sliced in half already so that I could eat it easily from the bag. The Alain Milliat carrot juice tasted lovely and I hope to collect all of the bottles after moving to Irvine soon. I actually really loved the flatware sets too and aspire to add a set to our family dining collection within the next year. There is much to see and enjoy and we haven't even tried the Moulin Bouillon next door yet. One of my great anchors of the city! I'm also glad there are many other locations that I can also visit when I am nearby. Thank you very much Laurent & the fabulous Moulin staff & team!!

Strongly recommend this true French bakery and restaurant. It is very popular and was crowded being a Sat morning. The breakfast was really good and the ambience sitting outside is a very Parisian feel. The OJ was really really fresh & sweet, and everything was outstanding except for the apricot jam crepes, which was disappointing though being a french restaurant. The waiter was really curt, completely confused, did not look at our table no, and kept repeating another table’s no for our order. She finally had to go back inside to get her confused state sorted out. It was a wonderful experience and will definitely visit again.

Great Food and Great Service

I must say that I don’t need to go anymore to Beverly Hills as MOULIN Pâtisseries are like the ones I used to get when in France in the capital of the French gastronomy, Lyon my hometown. It’s divine! Un grand Merci!!!! The « Baba au Rhum » with its exquisite dispenser on the top of the cake is just decadent…enjoy! We just had those at home tonight. The « Paris Brest » is délicieux! Well just dive in and pick few. You will be in heaven.

One liner: French themed cafe food with pastries with a price.Parking: Tight. I came on a Wednesday during lunch and it was almost filled.Ordering: one side for pastries and snacks while the other side mainly for cafe food. I was able to order other items on the pastries side even though it was mainly for pastries.Decor and seating: limited indoor and outdoor that match the theme.Dessert: I mainly came here for the individual desserts; price at least $6. I tried the chocolate eclair (the thin chocolate coated stick), the seasonal fruit tart, and the Oscar. The eclair was somewhat small and the filling was bland. The tart crust was not as tasty as Porto's fruit tart. Out of all of them I enjoyed the oscar the most. It was coffee flavored with a thick layer of chocolate ganache. However in the past I did try a full cake of the chocolate cake and that was really good.Overall: I am willing to try it again but the price kind of turns me off since the quality is alright.

A week before our trip to France, we just couldn’t wait to eat french food so off we went to Moulin in Costa Mesa where I had my fix of escargot and beef bourguignon … We ordered the following: Pork Paté $9 French Onion Soup $9 Escargot in garlic+butter herb $11 Boeuf Bourguignon $21 Duck Confit L’Orange $22 Creme Brûlée $10 Buillon by Moulin totally prepared our palettes for the exquisite cuisine that was waiting for us on our French Riviera holiday. Moulin’s pastries are already legendary in Orange County. This bistro they opened called “Bouillon” in Costa Mesa is the tastier, *funner* choice that tops the other 2 pricier french restos in South Coast and Newport Beach. The meat in their Boeuf Bourguignon is oh-so-tender fall off the fork goodness and so perfect with the al dente pappardelle. The Duck Confit did not disappoint - husband approves of that orange sauce that subtly enhances the flavors of the duck meat + caramelized onions. Also - their French Onion Soup hits the spot. I already know we’re coming back for brunch next time! À trés bientôt ! Pix&vids on IG @i_therefore_conclude

Their bakery is solid good, especially the almond croissant! 5 stars! The brunch and desserts are good but not exceptional like some places in LA :P

Delicious authentic French food

This is a great place. You get an authentic feel of a French cafe and bakery. The staff are VERY friendly and helpful. The pastries are so delicious and expertly crafted. Always such a joy to visit. The breakfast menu is a definite must and my favorite go to when I have friends from out of town. PS, try the coffee eclair, so good.

Went here for my parents anniversary. The owner even came by to check on our experience and wish them a happy anniversary as holidays. Everything was amazing.
