The food and service were outstanding! Stumbled onto this place based on their reviews and boy am I glad that we did. It's a small place located in a small mall, but don't let that keep you away. The halibut and chips were cooked to perfection. The fish was warm, flack, and tasty while the batter remained crisp and never got soggy. The clam chowder was also an A+ and actually had clams in it. Everyone from their staff interacted with us during our visit. They were polite, helpful, and courteous. Hook & Anchor had a good selection of beverages, including beer and cold seltzers. Fun, indoor seating with a family-style feel, although we opted to eat on their patio. Coming back next time with a group of friends.
Absolutely UNREAL food. The fish and chips is the best I have ever tasted. We flew in and happened upon this joint while going to the beach. And I can’t stop thinking about it! It’s simply a must do while in the area. Food was dope. Workers were dope
Ok, looks like a tiny hole in the wall, and it is, but boy is it BIG on freshness and flavor! Lobster Mac, Shrimp Po Boy, fresh fish board to choose from! Every bite better then the last.
This is one of the best spots we discovered so far in Newport Beach. The employees are very friendly, including the lady at the cashier and the waiter. Both came to our table a couple of times to ask if everything was alright. All of the dishes were delicious. Their clam chowder is very flavorful, the cioppino was very good. The oysters and the scallops were very fresh as well, and the draft beer was good. The food is cooked very quickly. We really enjoyed our experience here. Definitely will be back again.
Great casual seafood eatery near the beach. Parking was tough to find because of the small lot. Lobster roll and lobster fries were tasty. Ceviche was good but the chips were rather thick. I would come back and try their other dishes.
Came here on a work trip and the lobster roll was amazing! We ordered 4 for the table. It’s hot and prepped in butter. It comes in 4 oz or 6 oz—it’s a small intimate place. Great for lunch!
My fiancé and I are on vacation with our four kids (16, 15, 14, & 8). It’s really hard to find a restaurant where everyone is extremely happy with their food, but Hook & Anchor knocked it out of the park!The staff were all very patient and helpful while the 6 of us were trying to figure out what we wanted. We never once felt rushed or like we were inconveniencing them.We ordered lobster fries, clam chowder, two mahi mahi tacos, two crusty crab burgers, lobster mac & cheese, and fish and chips. Everything was mouthwateringly delicious!!! We all thoroughly enjoyed our food! My 15-year-old, who doesn’t like seafood, devoured her crusty crab burger. We all walked out of there happy and stuffed.We are here on vacation from Utah, but if we lived in the area, we’d 100% frequent this little restaurant. I’ll be thinking about those loaded fries for a while!
Best Lobster Roll I’ve had. Warm with plenty of lobster, warm and well buttered bread that has plenty of room to be stuffed. Lobster itself is great and well made. The mac n cheese with lobster is very heavy with plenty of cheese but also comes out hot and tasty.
Ate here yesterday and the service was excellent!! The food was delicious and made to order so I Had to come back today!! Had the fish and chips yesterday and the portions are huge!! Had the Lobster mac and cheese today and it was cheesy and delicious with plenty of Lobster!! A definitely must go to in Newport Beach!!
Was staying at Lido House across the street and stumbled across Hook & Anchor while walking down the street. Great food and nice portions, got busy after we sat down. Would absolutely recommend this place.
