I dined at Basilic for the first time this week and have no complaints. I had the prix fixe and the waitress and chef were very accommodating to my preferences, as I don’t eat beef or pork. Service was quick and attentive throughout the night. I sat outside and was kept comfortably warm thanks to the heater and the staff adjusting its heat after someone in my party requested it. The wines- especially the desert wines- were the best I’ve had since before covid and every part of the 5 course meal was very well cooked and presented. The soup wasn’t exactly special but as a whole the prix fixe was absolutely the right choice. The sea bass was artistically presented with small flowers around it and everything ended up being the perfect portion for me. The chef’s daughter was my main server and she was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. If you’re looking for a nice place to have dinner on a night out this is the place!
An excellent restaurant! We had the special balsamic salad with radicchio, endive, arugula, blue cheese, pear, caramelized walnut, and fresh pomegranate.For dinner, the coq au vin was a great choice. Their daily seafood special which we ordered was the sesame black cod in ginger-papaya beurre blanc, served on purple rice. Finished with the citron tart. Really good service, too. A pleasure to enjoy again.
Everything was perfect ? : the food, the service, the setting and atmosphere. Basilic is located in a posh area of Newport Beach, so walking around before and after dinner was a pleasure. I invited my girlfriend there as a surprise celebration of having been together six 6⃣ fabulous months, and she absolutely loved it! She asked me why I am being so nice to her, and I told her that it's because she deserves it -- as simple as that ?. We shared a bottle of excellent wine ?, appetizers and entrees -- all cooked to perfection. The chef (Renaud ?) came out to greet us in person. We left super satisfied and we'll definitely go back. Basilic is now on my list of Google Maps Favorite places ?.
This spot gives superb service as well as delightful menu. One of my favourite restaurants around town. The drinks and food came out fast and the rates are inexpensive. I recommend this place.
