It was great, but really expensive. $400/person for the luxury wagon is a bit much, considering that they serve you a lunch worth maybe $75 and the rest is just a train ride. But, if you ignore the price, the experience was a lot of fun.

Lovely experience. Went with a group of 5 adults on the Dinner express train on a Thursday in July. The train wasn't crowded at all. The food was good, very friendly staff and nice views eventually. I loved that we were able to move to the lounge couch after dinner. Only down fall was the price. For the price there should have been a tasting or bottle included with dinner.

Very unique experience! The staff was very kind and helpful. The food was excellent and beautifully plated. The station had a lovely gift shop and clean restrooms, as well as comfortable couches and high top tables at which to sit and wait. One note about the train ride experience itself was that the tables were arranged in a booth like manner. The tables weren't movable, and there was not a lot of space for larger people to be comfortable. We noticed quite a few larger folks who were really crammed and uncomfortable. But overall, the entire experience was well done and enjoyable. The train ride itself was about 2 hours, and we enjoyed a lovely dinner. There was a small menu with several choices as well a small variety of drink options including wine, beer, a few spirits, soda, and water.

The sunset dome ride was BEAUTIFUL, it just felt a little short unfortunately. The food was amazing! Each plate was such a delicious journey. Highly recommend. Maybe do one of the longer rides. By the time we finished eating, there was only like 20 min left.

It was a fun little one-time experience. We went for the Gourmet Express Lunch and the food was just okay, but everyone knows that’s not why it costs $255. It was really interesting to ride the train and we had the chance to take some pretty great photos. However, I don’t think it’s worth the price tag so taking off one star.

I'm so glad we did this. Absolutely beautiful experience in the day time, sitting in such comfortable decadent carriages being served gorgeous food and drinks. We took the second seating on gorumet express lunch since we had a heavy breakfast earlier. So it's 1.5 hrs from Napa to st. Helena and then back. So on the going journey we were served drinks and an appetizer plate in the lounge carriage. The timing was perfect and the service was fantastic.Once the engines switched sides, we were moved to the dining carriage and served the most phenomenal 3 course meal. Between 4 of us we got a good mix of the salad, tortilla soups for first course. We got each of the mains - gnocchi, tenderloin, chicken and salmon. Fantastic food! For desserts we got 2 each of the creme bruele and the lemon tart.Overall really great experience and I highly recommend this. Everything from the check-in to photos to puctuality and service quality - top notch

My husband is a big train nut and I like wine - so what to do in Napa - ride the wine train! It is the best of both worlds. We took the longer LEGACY tour on 4/26/2022 and it was really great. The ambiance of the dining car, staff service from start to finish, the food, the wine, all of it was top notch! The vineyards we visited were both good choices and different enough to not be repetitious. There is wonderful scenery to watch and best of all you miss the traffic you would have had driving vs riding the train. The two complaints that I see most often in reviews are lack of free wine/spirits on the train and cost of this tour. Remember a good part of the cost is the upkeep of the engines, cars and track. Plus costs go up as the tours start to sell out, so book early. As to not enough free drinks - on this particular tour there is champagne with breakfast, wine tasting on the train at the first stop and 2 more vineyards with even more wine tasting. The train provides, water, tea, etc so it is reasonable to purchase extra wine/spirits much like at a restaurant. Read the different tours carefully and then call the company and ask questions about each tour and what exactly is included. That is what I did, so there were no surprises and no disappointments. We had a grand time!

Look, the food was good, the staff were lovely, and it was a pleasant experience, but the value for money just wasn't there for me. I did the Dome gourmet express and at $420 per person, with one glass of sparkling wine included, I left feeling like I spent a lot of money for not a lot. I guess it depends what you're after though - some people seemed to really love it. Given it's called the Wine Train, it would have been nice to have some tastings included from local partner providers that you went past while on the train. Maybe some fun facts about wine and the local vineyards? I feel like they have an opportunity to do something amazing with this experience but fell short. Again, some people really loved it.If you want to sit on a nicely styled train and eat a lovely meal but expect nothing more then this is perfect way to spend $420 for you.

My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and wanted to experience something unique. The train overall was a really good experience, with very nice views of Napa. The service: OUTSTANDING!!! Our section was served by Jose. He was such a wonderful and professional. He really made us feel like we were VIP and made us feel very special. He even brought us a special treat because it was our anniversary. We inquired about dietary restrictions and he was so helpful. Also, he constantly checked on our experience and he was an overall great asset to have. Super friendly and super hospitable.****Thank you so much Jose for making this a unique experience****

We LOVED our wine train tour. This is an absolute must do for anyone in the region!!!Our server - J - was a delightful treat for the day and took excellent care of us. As well as Miguel , who made sure we got on and off the train at each stop. (And made sure we didn’t get left behind, because… we’ll… ) but this was just a total ball!!! I’d probably do it again the next time I come just for the massive amount of fun I had. Also make sure you go visit the store in the shop. They have so much to offer!!! Such good stuff!!!!
