Trying to find this place should have been my first clue that it wasn't great. We asked a local and she had no idea what Italian place we were talking about. Strike 1. I ordered a meatball sandwich for $10. The meatballs were homemade, but they skimped on the meat portion. The meatballs had an odd flavor. I detected something like nutmeg or allspice which was very off-putting. They put sauce inside the sandwich and on the top of the bread with me which makes it a slimy, soggy mess to eat. The sauce was not appealing either. It was not a red marinara type sauce. It was a brown sauce which did not have a good taste. Strike 2. A friend of mine ordered cheese raviolis and the milfati. They put that everything in one container which was dumb. Then they charged her $0.55 for the container! I'm sorry, but that $0.55 should be part of the cost of the food, not an add-on. Strike 3. I we were both highly disappointed with this place. I ended up throwing the entire meatball sandwich in the trash. I would not recommend going here.
The malfatti, ravioli and meatballs were alright, salty and one dimensional.Heed the warning from an older review, the lady running the counter will try to put one over you if you're not careful. Trying to get you to pay extra in cash, and if that fails, charges you $5 for the takeout container. Really scummy behavior.
I truly enjoy visiting cities and going to restaurants like this . It’s a mom and pop shop in a Liqour store serving home style Italian food . I had the scallopini sandwich …. For 12$ I got a foot long sandwich with delecious tender veal in a peppery gravy …. Italian attitude comes for free ?. It was a messy delicious sandwich and the kind Italian lady serving was a gem .On a side note the Liqour store was a rip off … the pappy and EH Taylor bottles were almost 2x secondary prices
I'm not gonna lie, this was the best malfatti I have ever had. Period! I grew up on delicious home made Italian food and their raviolis and malfatti are just like my childhood. I wish I lived closer but will be making the trip from Santa Rosa to get them, now that I now how amazing they are. It's so worth the drive! Try them....I promise you will not be disappointed.
This was supposed to be a nice dinner for my husband's brithday however I feel like I was robbed. I told the lady at the front counter I had never been there before she acted very kind and acted like she was going to help me out with what to get for the best price however she completely manipulate me. She kept suggesting add ons and said she was just going to throw the extras in if I gave her $25 cash and she would leave stuff off the bill so when I paid up front it would be cheaper. Well I ended up paying over $80 for a family meal that is advertised on their menu for $55. I paid $10 for the container the food came in that collapsed in the car. I paid $10 per loaf of $1 bread that was told was freshly made there...its not. I tried to question it and she pinned it on me saying I missunderstood her. I paid $15 for soup that was advertised at $11. When I gave her the $25 cash she insisted on, she pulled it from my hand as I was questioning her and stuffed it in her tip jar. And then said they don't get paid from Vals so that's how they make their money. I left crying feeling very violated like I literally just got robbed. I will never be bring my business to them again.
Hidden old school gem of a take out restaurant. love the cozy corner of liquor store with authentic Italian music playing at this long time Napa institution (it moved from original location but still run by same family!) Try the malfatti- t here own ravioli-like invention
Wow, this food was amazing! Tiny little spot inside of a mini mart. Authentic food and large portions. Would absolutely eat here again.
We came from out of town and specifically came here to order malfatti to take home to Boise. They took very good care of us and our special requests.
A MUST!!!!! Try the malfatti, you won't regret!!!! Every time I come home for a visit, I come to Clemente's. Drove 11 hours and this was my first stop!!!!! ❤❤❤
Food was delicious, but the experience was horrible. They tried to add things on to your order without explaining it. For example she said today we will throw in some meatball and Rossito with your Family pack ( which the family pack is $50). We said that sounds great. Come to find out it was $35 more for these 2 items. I said leave the meat balls. They were $23, she didn’t ask what size we wanted. Then to top it off they forgot the meat balls… warning make them explain the charges and check your order. I did catch the meatballs and they added them. The food was worth the stop and delicious . But we wouldn’t recommend this place because of our experience.
