The whole experience is out of this world! The way that the restaurant itself is decorated and designed is fascinating. Halls of mirrors, glass-roofed conservatory, the Captainâs cabin aboard a Spanish galleon. So many intricate details converging to create a completely unique vibe. The service is excellent, with prompt, thoughtful and cheerful staff. The food is delicious! And the desserts are indeed dramatic. Make sure to save room for the ice cream bonbons at the close of your meal. You will not be disappointed.
The interior was lovely, noisy, had great service. Food was very overpriced and not good. Tourist trap
Excellent place to eat. Food is worth the price. I would return again should I be in Monterey again.
They did a fantastic job! Thank you
We were in Monterey for a night and ate here to celebrate our trip away. What an absolutely fantastic meal. I ordered the Rib Eye and my wife had the fillet Mignon. Both were prepared perfectly. The abalone Bisque was amazing. Our server was great, the support staff was top notch. It couldnât have a more perfect evening.
We arrived for anniversary dinner. She ordered the filet. She ordered it medium rare. It came back well done. My meal was served. So I finished my meal and her meal then finally came. We ate at different times. Ridiculous. Not the sign of a good restaurant. We were quite surprised. Plus the steak, a 6 oz filet was rather tough. Plus it was rare!! Our server disappeared for the most part. When he brought the steak and took off immediately she took a bite into it and saw that it was charbroiled, cooked through. I had to go find him to tell him to take the steak back. Took me about five minutes. He never once came to check on us. He never asked us how our meal was. He never asked us if if there was something he could do for us. The steak was indicative of what you might get at Chiliâs or Applebeeâs. Not at sardine factory. Weâve been plenty of times to the sardine factory and always enjoyed our meals. We were sorely disappointed. Nobody seem to care, a simple apology for serving us at different times. We will enjoy the bar in the future but I donât believe we will eat dinner at the factory in the future!
The wine list was great: we had a 2010 Pommard, not something that's usually available. The bread and butter was good. The rest of the experience was terrible. Long waits for food, and then that food was badly prepared. There was a 45 minute wait between the salad course and the main! Our server avoided us during this period. When the main course finally arrived, it was basically inedible. My "medium" burger was overcooked, dry, oversalted, and cold. The short ribs were undercooked and undersalted and cold. I've had much better burgers at Wendys. There was something terribly wrong in the kitchen last night, and for a $300+ meal, it was completely unacceptable.
Wanted to go have a nice dinner to for our fathers birthday, he passed away 4 years ago. We were not disappointed with the quality of all our dishes. Our only regret was we did not eat here nightly! If we ever come back to Monterey, this will be one of the MUST GO TO spots.
The food was delicious and the ambiance was very nice. Not sure if it was an off night or staffing issue but it took a while to get menus after we were seated. It also took an hour to get our entrees.
Excellent food and service. The abalone bisque is amazing. Somewhat overpriced in my opinion.
