Husband discover this place. We had the clam chowder and it was amazing! Daughter had the fish and chips and they were also amazing.
I am so glad we decided to try out the Sandbar and Grill on our recent trip. We were seated right away and our server Oscar was friendly and helpful. All of the staff seemed happy to be there and a couple even played peek-a-boo with our toddler which kept him happy so we could eat! Everything we ordered was great. I had the scampi prawns and my husband had the prawns stuffed with crab. We both got pasta as our side. I was expecting a plain pasta but this was a beautifully cooked tomato pasta that could be a delicious meal on its own. The portion sizes were generous and everything was cooked perfectly. We only had one nice dinner out during our visit to Monterey and I’m so glad we went here. Great seafood, great staff, and great views. We will be back!
Excellent food, view and service! Best calamari we've EVER had and we've had a lot! Entrees were also very good and the servers were very friendly and attentive. We were able to get a window seat which made the experience even better with beautiful views. Prices were high but on par with a restaurant that is on the water. Would recommend and will return.
We were in Monterey from 5/31 to 6/5 and ate here twice because of how good the food was. We tried two other seafood places on the main Wharf and by the Aquarium that didn’t compare so we started our trip and ended our trip here. The Calamari steaks are the best I have ever had, Clam chowder was the best of the restaurants we tried and I enjoyed the Fish sandwich the first day and Fish and Chips on the last day. The wife had the Fish Tacos both times!! The chiefs and staff are really good. We want to say a Special Thank You to our waiter Pablo as we made a friend in him. He was awesome and probably the best in the industry that I have ever met. I’m 51 so that says a lot. I will always remember taking a tequila shot with you my friend and all the great tips for our trip Cheers and see you next year. AROO
The best clam chowder we had on the peninsula, so chunky and delicious. Great wharf location and service. Fish and chips were excellent, as were the grilled sand dabs, with good portion size. Very quaint and memorable location.
The calamari appetizer was fast and fresh but the breading was not very flavorful and a little thick. The marinara was not much more than ketchup. The Seafood Puttanesca contained perfectly cooked seafood. I have never had so many different item be cooked to perfection on the same plate. Though they ruined the dish by putting so many chili flakes in it. Maybe I didn’t understand it was to be Thai hot.The price was a little high and don’t forget the extra charge for using a credit card
Went here because they got a great rating in 2021. Ordered Sand Dabs appetizer and fried prawns. Both were a little too greasy for my taste. Almost like the grease wasn't hot enough. The breading kept falling off the prawns. There are much better choices for the money in Monterey so I probably would not go back
