Amazing atmosphere, you can sit pier side and watch the seals or sit inside. Fig and greens salad was really good, so was the prime rib stuffed ravioli. Ruby orange soda was okay, more sweet than fizzy. Amazing service. I recommend for a quick lunch bite
It’s a very beautiful spot and for the most part and an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, I ordered the fish and chips which was more dough than fish. The meal was overall good but refrain from the dish I ordered.
Visited Paluca for the first time today. I’d heard that the chowder was so good… well, it’s true. The soup is rich, silky, creamy base with beautiful clams, just a bit of potato, and a hint of citrus. It was so satisfying. The calamari was tender and crispy and a fantastic accompaniment to the chowder. Our server, Katie, made our visit so pleasant and helpful. Everyone we encountered was friendly and the location on the harbor was beautiful. I’ll definitely be back.
The special with prawns and cod today was so salty I almost finished the water bottle. Customer service was good. Clam chowder was excellent. Waiter didn't want me to put a thumbs down on the payment device and took it away. The chef must be having a really bad day.
Very nice atmosphere and very good staff! They were all very kind and welcoming. Food was very good too. Even if most of the customers are just tourists they do more than the minimum and show effort to make you come again.
Todo estuvo maravillosamente delicioso!
Yes, it was my fault. I fell for the classic tourist trap: the very first place along the row of businesses that comprise Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf where you can supposedly savor local seafood. Even though there were few customers, the allure of waterside dining was broken when my wife and I were squirreled-away on a truly tiny table a couple of rows away..."no, those other (nice) tables are not available". Should have left then, but we were very hungry. Once seated, we were abandoned by the staff even though we counted 4 waiters and a fellow - apparently the owner - who was intensely focused on drinking wine with an adjacent couple. The abandonment gave us an extended opportunity to study and nearly memorize the menu. About the only potentially local seafood offering were a few linguine plates with shrimp, varying in the sauce. All about $30. We almost left, but we were very hungry so, with some effort, we flagged down a waiter and ordered two of the linguine dishes. The food very promptly popped out of the kitchen. A moderate amount of commercial pasta, 6 shrimp each, and very unremarkable sauces. These were topped by shavings of faux Parmesan (the plasticy stuff, not Reggiano), and a small bowl of Kraft or similar "Parmesan" was also served (I know that product - it's not bad, but not what you expect for these prices). I don't know if the shrimp were local, but the poor guys were overcooked and their flavor had not been incorporated in the sauces. So one supposes they were (over)cooked separately and dumped on the plate. To add a flavor of insult to injury, we saw two other tables being served plates of mixed seafood which were nowhere to be found on the menu. If those were daily specials, the negligent waiters failed to offer them to us. In paying, their card reader starts high with its 3 tip selections: 20%, 25% or 30%. The restaurant gave us deficient service and a poor meal at an excessive price. But I also blame myself for falling into this archtypical tourist trap. If only we had first walked further along the row of businesses to learn about all the offerings. We did stroll along afterwards; I suspect we would have settled on fish-and-chips (about $11) - that looked delicious.
Price vs food does not match. Situated beautifully but the menu lacks imagination. I had meatballs with linguine. Half of a can of crushed tomatoes poured over some pasta. 3 small meatballs were thawed in microwave and add a few flings of cheese. No add spices. $28!!
Nice lunch with fun entertainment by all the sea lions. Shrimp and salad were good. Chowder was ok. Sketchy that they want you to tip on the taxes! You do not tip on taxes, you tip for good service on the good. Older owners seemed kinda stuffy and need to be more friendly and smile to their customers.
Lovely food - enjoyed the Clam chowder, chicken sandwich and pasta Nice position next to water at top on Fisherman’s Wharf. Joined by the Sea Lions which provided the entertainment!
