We found this place when driving through Monterey on our way to Big Sur for vacation the line outside is what caught our attention the food inside is what people come back to and now we agree the service was the best! What a great find, got to try it!
Any place here has a great view. We sat at the bar and could see the bay. Alejandro was an awesome bartender, great mixology. Crunchy fish tacos had a nice bite. Burger was cooked perfect, short on fries though. Free trolley stops right at that block.
I've always wanted to try this place since there's always a line outside all the way to the parking lot on weekends and holidays. Finally able to try their lunch so we started off with the calamari starter, the kids had clam chowder on a bowl, wife ordered shrimp pasta, I tried their Father's Day special Seafood with Artichoke pasta. All of them tasted good, our favorite was the calamari and the pastas. We would like to try the dinner menu next time we come back.
Highly recommended by locals I talked to. We went there on a Tuesday around 5:30 and there was a 25 minute wait. Went back Wednesday to be the first in line? for dinner service. We chose to sit at the bar. The guy at the bar was the best. He took the time to explain the specials and even explained an Entree my Buddy wanted three times. We started off with the Oak grilled oysters. I’ve never had oysters and decided to try one (it must have been the beer). It was a life changing experience. Very, very good. I had three of them. They were delicious. I’m a fan of oysters now?. Next was the Clam Chowder. No life changing experience here. Just average. Clam pasta - excellent. Lots of clam. Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Service⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, Appearance - small and crowded but clean⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Price I thought was fair. Believe the hype.
Lovely seafood restaurant and loved the prawn bisque starter and crab ravioli I ordered. The service was fast and the food came faster - so can't complain about slow service but we were definitely getting rushed to leave. My partner went to the loo and as my credit card was a British one I had to go to the counter to enter the pin to verify it. Was barely gone a minute and my coat was still there, but they cleared our table along with my barely touched wine! When I brought this up I was given a new glass so alls well that ends well. I do understand they only open for a few hours from 5-8.30 pm for their dinner service so they're trying to get in as many at that time. But yes for food and speed of service, can't complain.
We had a wonderful lunch experience here. (Get there before 2:00 PM to get served for lunch or you’ll miss out!). The fried and oh-so-fresh calamari was delicately breaded and cooked to perfection! They offered both seafood sauce and tarter sauce. It was among some of the finest we’ve had anywhere in the world! The fried oysters were very good. The large Caesar salad with lots of shrimp was okay. My grilled boneless chicken was moist and delicious and came with large side servings of vegetables and potatoes. Service was very nice and extremely friendly. This cafe is impeccably clean. They also have beef if you’re not a fish eater.
Had dinner at the Fish House last night. A bit of a wait, as it is a small place, but well worth the it. We had the oysters on the half shell, blackened snapper and oak grilled chicken and everything was great. Staff was attentive and wonderful. This is not a quiet, romantic place, but instead is rather lively and has great character. We loved it.
This restaurant was recommended by a local and was by far the best seafood we enjoyed whilst in Monterey. Great service, relaxed atmosphere, incredible food and very reasonably priced especially considering the area. It was so delish I decided to eat there two nights in a row. If I get the choice, I will happily enjoy their seafood pasta as my last meal on earth.
We went for a late lunch after kayaking at Elkhorn Slough! The teenager was HUNGRY! We were lucky to get in, as it was crowded-the outside patio was full. I have heard from others that you'd better try to make reservations for dinner in advance. Service was great, and so was the food!
Given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, we had high expectations but we had a very disappointing experience. My husband, daughter and I ordered pasta dishes with seafood and they tasted of nothing, plus the pasta was over cooked. My son had the swordfish, which was soggy and also completely tasteless. My daughter left her entire dish after tasting it, and when the waiter came to collect our plates, he said nothing about the full bowl - I would’ve expected them to ask if we didn’t like it and offer to give us something else. The wine (a rose) was also one of the worst I’ve ever had. Would definitely not recommend.
