I was spending one night in Monterey and a friend of mine suggested going to A Taste of Monterey to enjoy a glass (or two) of wine. It was next door to my hotel, the Intercontinental, so an easy walk. What a lovely escape from the touristy environment outside this building! I arrived at 5 pm and nabbed a club chair looking out into the ocean. I enjoyed a flight of wines from their menu ($20) as well as their delicious hummus. I then ordered a charcuterie plate to go, and it was so good! The menu has an excellent selection of gourmet foods to complement your wines, be sure to order something. Service was top notch. What a wonderful experience! Highly recommend for adults in need of a quiet, delicious break ( not a place to take kids.)
My group and I all very much enjoyed our time here, though wished we could have stayed longer.Highlights: great staff, good selection of wine, beautiful views with lots of wildlife activityArrived around 1pm on a Thursday, we were the only table there for 15 or so minutes when a couple other tables filled up.Good variety of wine flight options, majority Californian central coast wines. Flights presented on pre-printed mats with info about each wine.We didn’t try any food, so can’t comment on that.The waiter noticed we were enjoying watching the wildlife, so he brought over a pair of binoculars with a helpful local wildlife factsheet.
I cannot rate this venue more highly. We had a beautiful table overlooking the ocean and we loved the wine tasting menus. Sparkling for me and reds for my husband. The wines were delicious and we came home with a bottle for another night. Our server Tyler was super friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our wine watching whales and sea otters out of the window. Absolutely wonderful!
A Taste of Monterey in Cannery Row ALWAYShas a beautiful view! It's a great place to treat yourself, go on a date, bring visitors from out of the area or if you just wanna chill with a glass of local wine! They have a GREAT menu that serves Bistro Style. You can order small plates, share plate, get your own plate and more!! GREAT assortment of yumminess!! You can also order different styles of wine so you taste our GREAT LOCAL WINERIES. My waiter Scott was so nice and was able to handle quite a bit of tables and still make meet everyone's needs. The staff is always so nice and positive. They also allow you to enjoy the beautiful Monterey Bay view without making you feel rushed! You have got to experience it!!
Fabulous experience! Wine and beer flights, food and serving Associates...stylish art filled (locals) tasting room and quality gifts to purchase. On the water makes for a stunning location for such an enjoyable afternoon! Thank you!
It has one of the best views I have seen from a restaurant. We could see whales breaching from our seats. The seats are slightly positioned towards the ocean so that you can talk to the person next to you while enjoying the whale-watching.
Came across this place by chance and really glad we did. The views are gorgeous and food was good. Service was prompt and prices weren’t as high.
Come here every time we are in Monterey!! You get to sip wine and sample some good eats while watching the ocean going inside!! Highly recommend!!

This restaurant has a beautiful view, they have huge window glasses where you can see the ocean right there.The food here is just about average. ordered two pizzas and a five item cheeseboard, and smoke salmon.The service here…. Our server is actually pretty nice. Come here around 4 PM and since we have a group of six we are not able to sit on the table right next to the window. So after the drinks came, we went to take pictures on the table right next to the window. The waitress came and put a “reserved” thing on the table, but she didn’t really say anything about us take a picture there. And then two minutes later she came back with a grumpy face and asked to leave the table.It is totally OK for her to ask us to leave but I would really appreciate if she said that in a professional way. And I think the manager can totally do a much better job on training their associates on how to communicate with their customers better.
