I think the food was really good. I ordered the lb. of Green Mussels, and for the table the popcorn shrimp and fried calamari. One of my brothers got the fried oysters and fries, he was disappointed. my other brother got the wings, he was satisfied. I thought they were generous with the mussels. my bag had only one cob of corn and one potato. the house sauce was very good and my brothers agreed. However, our service wasn't good. Our Server was Valeria, it seemed like she was avoiding our table. I saw her peek at us from the kitchen but not come to help us. Her customer service needs a lot of help. At the end of our dining experience, my brother noticed and pointed out to me that she was preoccupied with her male-coworker. I was pretty disappointed also in the fact that my brother didn't enjoy his food.
The flavor of the shrimp was delicious. The calamari were crispy and fresh and the hush puppies were da bomb! Will recommend to family and friends. We will definitely return to Pier 88. Service was top notch.
If you like eating seafood with your fingers then this is the place to go. We were a party of 3 for lunch and I got the fried shrimp basket, while my family got the 3/4 lb steamed clams, mussels and shrimp with sides. They were served separately in bags with choice of sauces. You are given bibs, clear gloves but no silverware. No coffee either which I really wanted. Everything was served piping hot, excellent service and food was tasty. Prices were very reasonable. Very casual dining. Would revisit.
The food was great! My husband and I tried the oysters, green muscle, and fried calamari. We got an order of tenders and fries for our toddlers. The tenders are large and it was more than enough for both my girls to share. We enjoyed the green muscle with pier 88 mild sauce and I recommend it. We definitely plan on coming back again. The waitress said they do not currently have a liquor license so those that want to go on a Friday night may not be too thrilled. They may receive a lot more service if the sold adult beverages. Overall, good service and food.
My wife and I have been wanting to check this place out for some time and finally had a chance on Easter with the kids. Our initial thought of the interior when we walked in was that it was underwhelming. Nonetheless, we weren’t really there for the decor so much as we were there for drinks and food.Upon asking our waitress what alcohol they served, I was surprised in her response, which she informed us that they did not yet have their liquor license and therefore did not sell alcohol. At this point I was tempted to leave, but thought, well, let’s at least try the food. To our surprise it was “WOW”. Sure we didn’t have the alcohol (which is the only reason I’m giving them a 4 out of 5), but their Green Mussel (Larger then the Black Mussel), Raw Oysters, and fried Calamari were equally as good as the San Pedro Fish Market Restaurant, and much closer. For our little ones we ordered chicken tenders which were large enough for our 3 and 4 year olds to share. They were also very good.All-in-All, great seafood, and I would recommend this to anyone not wanting to make the drive to Long Beach, San Pedro, or any coastline restaurants. Just keep in mind that this place serves NO alcohol.
It was a fun experience and the food was good. However, my husband and I had never eaten at a place like this. Our waiter wasn't super helpful with suggestions and I think he thought we were joking when we asked for advice on how to eat the crawfish and crabs. A poster or handout with suggestions would have been helpful.
This restaurant tastes good. The seafood is fresh and delicious. If the garlic flavor can be aggravated, it will be more perfect
This was very good! They have only been open a month, so they have some kinks to work out. They need to make sure the boil can be dumped or and provide most towelettes. Definitely recommended!!!
I LOVE their crab legs! Fresh and nice seasoning. I went there on Friday, no too much people. Recommend!
Saw this place as I was leaving the mall and went there for dinner last night with my son and ex husband. Super impressed with the service and food was delicious. Even the fried food was great. I love fried oysters and it’s hard to find a place that does them right, and I was surprised and happy at how good they were. My ex is not a fan of seafood boil so he had the popcorn shrimp, calamari and chicken tender basket. I had Manila clams, green mussels and shrimp (head on), garlic butter sauce, hot spice level with my boil and everything tasted fresh. My son had the special (can’t remember name) with snow crab legs, shrimp and sausage with garlic butter sauce and medium spice level and he thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Overall very happy with the experience. Will definitely return when the bar opens. Can’t say enough about the service, the servers willingly helped each other and in turn made our dining experience great instead of just good. Highly recommend this place!
