I go here all the time with my fiance to get lunch and dinner, well today I decided to go and get some lunch there ordered my usual the el pastor tacos, on the 8 dollar meal menu. I was quite surprised to open the box and see that my meat was absolutely burnt to a crisp. And looks nothing like the tacos I ALWAYS get when I visit here. And the part that really baffled me was that the owner was there in the drive thru window.
Honestly first time coming was so good. The bread was so nicely toasted and fresh. That I went back 2 days later.In total shock how light warm my bread was. Made the whole sandwhich not good. Won't be coming back
Haven't been to this spot in over 5 years. It was good then and it's better now. Had a chili rellenos burrito and it was so good. Give it a try. The menu is so vast and the horchata is made fresh every morning
I like to try small places to eat. Most of the time it's not bad and sometimes disappointing, but this place was great! It's a hidden gem. The food looked just like on the menue or better. I had the chicken enchilada and taco plate served with rice and beans and it was perfect. I used to be a professional cook and I could tell the chicken was freshly made and the taco shell was fresh out of fryer. From what I can see the kitchen was really clean and by judging the color of the taco shell they clean they're fryers regularly. I live 30 minutes away from Garcias Jojos and I'm definitely coming back.
My mom and I ordered the chicken bowl. It was hot and delicious. The perfect size and calories for those watching their diet.
Clean inside and staff was nice. I tried the 6 dollar taco truck special . Honestly the texture of the al pastor was weird, the flavor was good and there was some heat but the texture and amount of meat I say no. I understand renting a restaurant and paying employees is expensive but I could have drove 1 more mile to 9th street and could have gotten more tacos and flavor cheaper.
Just went for my first time!! I will DEFINITELY be going back!! Super asada burrito was the bomb...even though I only got ONE bite because my husband devoured the whole thing!!
Food is delicious especially their shakes. If you like supporting local businesses and like Mexican food then this is the spot. Employees can be hit or miss just like any food joint.
Do not order their horchata. Not even close to authentic flavor. It tasted like watered down horchata that had been sitting out for 3 days. They have good taquitos and breakfast burritos and refried beans. But I haven't tried any other items.
1 block south of Orangeburg on McHenry Ave (towards downtown) entrance on your right. Great mexican american food, my personal favorites are their bean and cheese burritos and their Asada nachos with the works... don't forget the jalapenos, they have the best refried beans and their house made Salsa is Amazing though not as hot as some would like, I find it perfect and I could literally drink this stuff... ask to buy a quart to go. My family has been coming here well over 25 years,no complaints. They have a huuuuge menu from tacos to chili rellanos and nothing I have ever chosen to try hasn't been great tasting (over the years I do believe I've tried everything here) They never dissapoint .They offer a wide variety of combo meals ( Asada plate, Chili Verdes, chili colorado, enchiladas, taquitos and much more... and have the best milkshake in town.Very casual atmosphere (booths or chairs), child friendly. Indoor and outdoor dining ( think dairy queen type dining) or just drive thru and take out. They have a very affordable daily special everyday of the week and also offer family packs of tacos and burritos. Always service with a smile and they have never once messed up my order or left something out. Love this place, and I come any chance I get (I live an hour and a half away) and I eat HERE everytime I come. I choose Garcia JoJo's over Anyplace else and there are many other choices of eateries here in Modesto. Highly recommend.
