First of all, this restaurant is newly opened and the environment is good. But the A/C was too cold and the food cooled quickly as soon as it was served. Food doesn't taste good. Especially the Beef Chow Fun($23 with tax) is fast food quality.
There are multiple HL Peninsula Restaurants around the bay, and this one located at McCarthy Ranch, Milpitas.First of all, I have to say, this is the largest Cantonese restaurant that I ever see around the Bay Area, I bet the grand hall could host at least 100 tables.Second, when I step into the restaurant, I feel like I am back to China.Third, the food quality is on the spot, with a wide variety of dim sum high end to low end for you to choice from.At last, it is a big restaurant, there are tons of stuff, but you might need to wave couple time to get a waitress’s attention to order to get napkins to refill water etc.The price is about 30 bucks per person, you are looking at about 3 dim sum per person.
Where do I start with this place. When you walk in the place looks like a huge palace, and everything is so spaced apart. The restaurant has very good selection of food. I like that they had a already prepared menu for when you have quite a bit of people in your party. Now keep in mind they will charge your gratuity which is 18% if you have a large party. After we ordered the food came out so fast it was almost as if they were making them as we ordered. All the food that came out tasted so good however when we asked for a bowl of rice it took forever for them just to get a bowl of rice and we asked at least 5 to 6 waiters and even the manager. Now I thought that would be a simple job but it took forever

Opened 4.5 months ago, so everything looks nice when it's new. High ceilings, the place feels very airy. Two huge TV screens, lots of tables and lots of staff. We came here for dim sum on Sunday morning, it got filled quickly. There is plenty of parking in the front. Overall food was fine, nothing special. No unique dish on the menu. Service was great initially when it wasn't busy yet, but once the place got filled, there weren't enough servers, so I had to wave them down to get more hot water for the teapot.
Huge tv screen here and they stream local sports games like the Warriors NBA games. There are small wedding dinners here too, or other banquets. The service here is very nice. It's super busy, so you might need to flag down someone but in our experience the servers are very courteous and efficient. The food is top tier. Their menus are beautiful too haha.My parents like this place a lot and come here a lot, and I'm down to come back here lots too!
It is great to have a proper Cantonese food restaurant in the area. The dim sum is delicious, and multi variety. In addition to all the standard options, you also have squab, pandan custard pies, rolled cucumber slices, etc. We ordered fresh crab, it was well made and yummy.Service at HL is still a work in progress. We have to strain to get the staff's attention. But this should get sorted out in time.
This restaurant is huge. Seems awesome for a banquet. Food is good. Service is slow, oh so slow. We had to ask for things several times from the staff before they would get anything for us. Even the check took a long time to come. They must be getting used to everything still because they certainly don’t look understaffed. Went here on a Saturday around 11 and it was almost full.We also had a fish porridge that had a good amount of scales in it. I’d skip the porridge since it wasn’t that flavorful.
This is a new Cantonese restaurant. 8 of us went there for lunch on a Friday. Parking was easy. We were seated right away. Other than the usual dim-sum we ordered a steam live fish, which cost $70 a pound, and a crab dish. Dim-sum was about the same as other famous Cantonese restaurants. The fish and crab were good. The lunch was $500. Service was good.
Best (and only) whole King Crab I've ever tasted! They prepared it 3 ways: knuckles in egg yolk flour and pumpkin, legs in a light garlic sauce over glass noodles, and head in a delicious sauce over snow pea leaves (you can choose rice instead). The crab meat was so sweet and tender. I'm glad it was delicious because it was quite pricey - $700 for 10 pounds (MP $68 per pound). We also ordered a Dungeness crab in chili oil and that was also cooked to perfection. The texture was so juicy and flavorful. I've eaten a lot of really great crab yet I've never had it cooked so well.Other great dishes my family ordered that we enjoyed were the cucumber salad (very refreshing), honey walnut shrimp, crispy pork belly and the fried rice. They were very understaffed so although the service was painfully slow, we gave them grace for it since the restaurant has been open for less than a month and figuring things out. When we were attended to, the staff was very knowledgeable and kind.
