Always awesome to go here for a meal. The food is absolutely wonderful and the staff is very helpful and give good customer service.They do get busy from what I have seen, but given that the food is amazing, it's totally worth it. I would say certain items from the menu are good but I think they're all good. I particularly love their ranch dressing, so much better than going to another restaurant and order something and ask for ranch. Their ranch dressing is definitely the best. I would really like to know how they make it.
My son was craving a chili dog so I thought I'd take him here over Sonic. Great choice? It was a more homemade version over fastfood like (if you know what I'm saying as a mom) He loved it. I also got him the large chili cheese fries which everything for the price and not more than 10 minute wait was worth it. He's 9 and I think it filled him up and he was satisfied. I appreciate it. He was really hungry☺️ Thanks H & W for staying family oriented, so cozy and clean in the outside eating area. Also, Thank you for having a restroom customers have easy access to.
Food is delicious! I last had the guacamole burger meal with a root beer float. It was absolutely delicious! I'd definitely come back.
I love h&w I've been going here since i was a kid you know the place is the bomb when its been open for more than 30 years if you go you gotta try there homemade Rootbeer don't thank me later you can do that now lol
Best fast food in town. Mandatory visit when passing through Merdead. Great food AND great value. The only place that wants to feed you for miles around. Kids love their menu and love the special attention given by the hostesses. Great for the family and pocketbook.
Love everything about it! Amazing food for an amazing price. Ordered a tuna sub and was expecting an average size sandwich but it was huge! The cheese fries taste great as well, just look at that cheesiness? great spot to hang out with friends and even dine in with family ?
*Local Treasure!* The employees are so nice. I actually don't understand how they are SO nice! The food is GOOOOOOOOD! Super fun place to go and hang out in your car and eat. True small town drive-in experience. Pictures are of the view from H & dub. If you haven't experienced this downtown Merced treasure, you should. My husband says: Try the Big Dave. It will tickle your mouth. Just kidding, he says he was joking about that. But not joking about the Big Dave--it is good!
My husband and our kids went yesterday for the first time and Monica was so friendly and helpful with service. She even custom made my patty melt with avocados and hot sauce instead of me ordering the avocado burger which I’m sure tastes great as well but my patty melt was delicious! The bread was perfect and not too hard to bite into. The fries were so good and seasoned just right, the family pack of fries for $5 is a great deal considering it’s size! McDonald’s sells large fries for almost $5 and it’s not even packed or half the size of H&W’s! Can’t wait to bring family over for lunch and try other meals on the menu.
H&W has always been a go to spot when I’m unsure what I want to eat. I’ve never been disappointed. My orders have always been correct and never had an issue with them once. The staff is friendly and ensure fast service. Fries are crinkle and seasoned with perfection along with their burgers. Food is great and it shows if you go around lunch and dinner, you’ll find out how busy H&W can get. If you’re on 99 passing by and want great food with friendly service, I highly recommend you give H&W a try!
This was second time trying H&W. I ordered the pastrami burger, seasoned fries, and fried mushrooms. My GF didn't like the fried mushroom but when you dip them in some ranch and pop the whole thing into your mouth they're actually quite tasty. Their fries are delicious, covered in seasoned salt is my best guess but whatever it is, it's good. The pastrami burger was larger than I expected yet I was underwhelmed by it. There was little flavor to the patties or the pastrami and the patties had no crust, they were just grey. All in all I will come back again hoping for a nicer experience.
