A shot in the dark on our drive from SFO to Carmel that turned out to be a major hit. I had salmon with a corn concoction. I was expecting some sort of a corn pudding but what I got was a rich, gorgeous, delicious corn sauce. Crispy salmon skin. YUM. My husband went for the steak frites. Cooked perfectly. Our server was delightful. Being from Miami we are not used to being charged for bread service â but what we got was definitely worth the small charge. Menlo Park is not a place weâre likely to get back to â BUT we will definitely recommend it.
First time back since Covid and it was great. We sat inside and got a booth. We consistently have had a great time at The Left Bank and used to do birthdays and special occasions. The menu is limited now and too bad we had to pay for bread which I think used to be free. Otherwise, we enjoyed our dinner! Our waiter was courteous and the french onion soup which I had was excellent.
Service is slow. Food wasnât hot. Food tasted good
We celebrated our anniversary. We were seated at a lovely outdoor table. The food was very good and the service attentive. My husband ordered the steak frites which he thoroughly enjoyed ( cleaned his plate). The waiter suggested a lovely red which paired with his entrée perfectly. To start we shared the heirloom tomato tarte which was buttery and delicious. I had a beautiful tuna (seared ahi) Niçoise salad that was fresh and generous. With that I enjoyed a crisp and delicious Sauvignon blanc. We would definitely return when we are back in the area.
Service and food were as expected and did not disappoint. The added terrace together with the closed street provided a beautiful serene venue.
While we don't get here as often as we like, the food & service has been consistently good and we always look forward to our return visit.
We've eaten here a few times and each time the food is delicious and the service is attentive and intuitive. The beef tartar & nicoise salad are some of the best I have ever had. The pork tenderloin was so good we couldn't stop.
We sat outside and it was a lovely way to have lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The food was good. The service was ok but could have been more attentive/available. We will definitely be back. So pleasant and comfortable.
Disappointing - I used to come here often pre-pandemic but now the menu is limited, the dishes are not French (I know because I am French) with jam and uncooked peach with your duck, and there is no finesse in the cooking and the service. You even have to pay for bread even if most dishes need bread (prawns, escargots etc.).
This is a place we have been going for almost 26 years, although we are frequent visitors to USA. The food is tasty, service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Furthermore, access to public parking is very easy and a French-American menu is always a plus for us. Sam 44
