Wow what a delicious place to eat. It was our first time ever eating there. We started off with some onion rings, which had such a good batter and perfectly crispy. Then we had a chicken sandwich which was made with all fresh ingredients. Customer service was great. The workers attended us well and took care of us. Will be coming back again when I’m back in Manhattan Beach.
Absolutely delicious food, friendly wait staff, you can’t go wrong here.
Tomboy's Famous Chili burgers is very good. It is not a fancy restaurant so adjust expectations. I like to get their food when I got nothing important to do after :)
Stopped by because I was hunger. What a mistake. Place was clean, but old. Unfriendly employee's busy talking to each other. I had the pastrami sandwich and fries. Shoe String fries were old and cold. Way way way too much pastrami on the bread. Wasted meat. Will not be going back. Do not waste your time and money here.
We have driven by this Tomboy's so many times and we had already eaten or it was late and closed. We finally decided to make the trip to Manhattan Beach just to go. My grandson was so excited. He loves Chili Burgers. We made the right decision. It was great. All of it.The place outside is cute, not very big and you may miss it so be on the lookout. There is comfortable seating indoors and out. The interior is just spotless. While we were there we saw staff cleaning all the tables after a customer left. The floors were spotless. Inside is super cute. It has a large menu on the wall and a good selection. They have some things I have never tried before like pastrami quesadilla. I will be trying that on our next visit. They also have breakfast items. They have shacks and all sorts of sodas.We ordered what we came for, chili burgers and chili fries along with an Oreo cookie shack and a soda. We were in heaven. We sat down and they give you a number. When they call you just walk up and it is waiting on a tray.The chili is so very good and the burger and bum perfection. They give you a lot of chili and their regular order of fries is huge just covered in chili. It is not too hot, not too greasy and not too mild. It is perfect. We loved every bite and wished we had remembered to order a chili dog to share, but too late, we were stuffed.The prices are reasonable. You can get it to go if you want. I don't know if they deliver.The service here was so great. There were two young men behind the counter and they listened carefully as my grandson who has speech issues told him what he wanted. They offered him choices and spoke to him like he was in charge of his order, and he is. They made sure our order was right. When one of the employees was cleaning tables he asked on us. When we left we were thanked. I love these guys.They open early at 7 am so you can have a full breakfast there if you want. Everything is made to order.This place is just great so go there and have fun. If you are on a diet, this is not the place for you.Indulge your love of chili burgers.
We (3 of us ) frequented this restaurant several times per week for the past 20 years. It was a convenient place to meet and grab a hamburger. Unfortunately, we stopped going to this restaurant because of the hostile treatment we received for not wearing a mask. Apparently the order taker felt she was the mask police. I'm sure the owner wonders where his long term customers went. I guess the mask was more important than keeping customers! We have already found the replacement restaurant that has treated us with respect and enjoy our revenue.
Our whole family just loves this place. Whenever we return from a trip, Tomboy's is our first stop. We really enjoy the double burgers, soft chicken tacos, NY pastrami sandwiches, and tuna sandwiches. Fried zucchini is a regular order and their fries are great too.
Our favorite go to when we come into town.Always clean, friendly and yummy.Its been our favorite for 40 years.
The food here was great! Fries were crispy, the burgers were tasty and the chili cheese dog had a generous amount of toppings. I didn't really like how the middle age white lady was a bit rude to the younger staff which made things a bit uncomfortable for me at the register. It's also pretty chaotic between the drive thru and register situation. They could also benefit from a 2nd soda machine. Overall one bad apple in the staff, slight chaos but amazing food. I'll definitely be back!
