Food is excellent!! I am going back next Sunday. Very good coffee too.
This place is a lost gem, if you were just driving by you could blink and miss it or worse write it off as not worth the stop. We felt so comfortable here and could see that there was definitely a neighborhood regulars feeling that would accept us into the fold if we respected the vibe. Our food was delightful and the staff were warm and friendly. I remember seeing these types of places in shows with my Grandma and regret never taking her there. Definitely a beautiful slice of times gone by but hopefully never lost.
the gorgonzola scramble is the best eggs you will ever eat. it's our go to menu item. And the country potatoes are in my top 3 favorites. service is also always exemplary.
It certainly gets a little too crowded on weekends. Crepes are excellent! A good way to tell the regulars is by their ability to find the clipboard (it's hanging by the door) and put their name down compared to anyone else that waits to be seated!
When my car broke down right in front of Lou's yesterday, two customers ran over and pushed it out of the intersection and to the SpeeDee Oil Change at the corner. My kids and I went over to Lou's to wait for a replacement car to be delivered and the manager was wonderful. We ended up having a full meal which was delicious - and when we went to pay for the meal of the couple who pushed our car out of the intersection, we found out that another customer had already paid their bill! This place attracts good human beings and deserves to be patronized by as many people as possible!
I reserve five stars for what i feel are the best in the neighborhood. This is a dinner with good consciousness. They are conscious of the environment using biodegradable bags and sraws, cutting down on plastics. The food is excellent without overdoing it with high calories. The chief puts pride into his work and you can taste it. The staff is always in a good and cheerful mood with a host of regulars. A real hidden gem.
